We’re getting ready for the holidays, and so is CCleaner. We’re releasing version 4.09 a few days early, but that doesn’t mean it's not packed full of useful changes!
This release includes several of your most requested features – an option to clean individual cookies from the Cookies interface, and an option to shut down your computer after a clean. We've also added cleaning and startup management for Google Chrome v32.

CCleaner v4.08 is ready to download! This month’s release improves support for all browsers – we’ve added cleaning for Firefox's new cache location, optimized flash cookie and last download location cleaning in Chrome and improved detection of Internet Explorer and Firefox startup items.

Version 1.24 gives you at-a-glance details about USB drives – including capacity and file system information. The latest version of Recuva is now available to download! Version 1.48 introduces support for universal disk format (UDF) drives and improved detection for recovering deleted files from small drives. We’ve also added the option to choose a new recovery destination when there’s not enough drive space or when the path name would become exceptionally long.

This week CCleaner got a mention on the Gadget Show (Channel 5, UK). The weekly tech program ran a feature on online security, and recommended CCleaner as a great way to keep your data private.

Internet security is a hot topic at the moment, and more and more people are turning to CCleaner to remove traces of their digital footprints. The Gadget Show highlighted how your online habits and personal data may be available to others, from advertisers to hackers.
Presenter Dom Littlewood explained that deleting cookies and other traces of your online activities using CCleaner helps to protect you.
The show also discussed 'secret' search engines like DuckDuckGo that don’t record your searches, browser extensions that block tracking cookies, antivirus software and how to stay safe when using unsecured public Wi-Fi.
