Annoying pop-up from CCleaner for non-updated drivers

Hmm

Recommended Posts

Everyone should be aware that using third-party utilities, including Windows Update, to update non-Windows drivers can lead to problems. For drivers such as NVIDIA, AMD, audio, motherboard, and others, it's best to update them directly from the manufacturer's website rather than relying on any third-party tool or even Windows Update.

How do I stop the annoying pop-up from CCleaner at launch?

It's basically advertising to tempt you to buy Pro, CCleaner Free doesn't actually do driver updating.

Just ignore it, many/most do.

Or buy Pro, I get those driver pop-ups on CCleaner Free on one machine but not with Pro on another machine.

Wondering about why some files come back after cleaning? See this link:

i only ocasionally get a popup from "ccleaner." not nearly enough to be annoying. i am using the free version. in ccleaner's "options"/"privacy" i have all of the boxes there unticked. and i don't have ccleaner blocked by my firewall-rules or otherwise.

one thing is, i don't have "ccleaner" set to run in the background. that might be the difference.

I'm not sure why my system behaves differently. I don’t have CCleaner or any related tools running automatically, and I’ve disabled the Optimization Service, yet I still get the pop-up every time without exception.

I realize it’s an ad, but it’s not just an ordinary ad. It's incredibly annoying.  Ignoring it doesn’t work; I have to actively close it. Since I use sophisticated DNS blockers to prevent ads, this issue seems embedded in the application.

As for purchasing the full version, that’s not going to happen for various reasons, some of which are already mentioned in this forum,

Of course if you are blocking the flag (maybe a cookie?) that says you have already been shown a particular notification then CCleaner doesn't 'know' that you have already seen it once and so next time will show it again. (and again, and again, ......).

That can be one reason why some users do see more pop-ups than other users do.
