AppleNever01
When I try to upgrade from 5.14 to 5.19 I get the following message: CCleaner v5.19 Setup Error opening file for writing: C:\Program Files\CCleaner64.exe Click Abort to stop the install, Retry to try again,or Ignore to skip this file. If I hit Ignore or Skip v5.19 doesn't install. I assume it has to do with the Windows 10 upgrade I did at the first of the year. Been fooling with this for the last five months now. Moderators Nergal Posted July 11, 2016 Moderators Share Posted July 11, 2016 No this has do do with ccleaner still running when you run the setup, or your user not having the permission to write to c:\program files (such as trying to run the installer without administrator privileges). The only other cause (that I know of) of this is that your Antivirus program is grabbing it. Would you mind letting us know which Antivirus software you use (there are a few specific softwares that do this to ccleaner) ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. AppleNever01
I use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, SuperAntiSpyware, and Norton Security which have coexisted with CCleaner on all my computers for years with no problems. And I don't think CCleaner is running when I try to run the setup. Usually my computer tells me when I need administrator privileges and don't have it. AppleNever01
Also I am the only user who has administrator privileges on my computer.

AppleNever01
Just discovered something interesting that fixed the problem. I copied the Ccleaner setup to a thumb drive and switched to my wife's user page. She is definitely a non-administrator and I have always been the administrator. I then ran CCleaner from the thumb drive and it install exactly as it should. And when I go back to my page it has upgraded to 5.19 also. I was not able upgrade from the thumb drive while on my page. I have no idea what it all means but the problem is fixed. Thanks Nergal, your comment about administrator privileges gave me the idea to try my wife's page for the setup.
