frankjb
Help appreciated here... I accidentally formatted my main data hard drive yesterday and was recommended Recuva for recovering my data. When I point it at the HDD in question however it just states : "Failed to scan the following drives (G:) Unable to determine file system type" And there it stops - so I cant even access the HDD to recover anything Any ideas - or do I need another recovery software (Easus possibly?) thanks in advance for any support! Cheers Frank

Cheers Frank Not sure if I can help here but I'm assuming you are trying to restore a Windows-formatted disk? According to their product info Recuva doesn't support some OSes such as Mac & Linux, see this page: http://www.piriform.com/docs/recuva/introducing-recuva/system-requirements Another question: did you try a Deep Scan? I mention that but I don't think it addresses the problem you are having since it sounds like Recuva isn't even recognizing your HD from your description.
