DavidWW
I just installed a scanner and am trying to disable its program from starting up at start up. However, when I click disable, I get the following error: "failed to enable/disable startup item: Cannot create a file when that file already exists" Any idea what that means and/or how to fix the problem? Thanks, david
Moderators DennisD Posted December 26, 2009 Moderators Share Posted December 26, 2009 Hi David, and welcome to Piriform. Googling brought up a lot of possibilities for what appears to be "error 183", but this seems to be the most likely solution as you have just installed a scanner. For problems with third-party programs running on Windows XP, the vendors have released some solutions. Reinstalling the software causing the problem may fix the error. If the error is related to a driver installation, the old drivers in the system must be deleted properly before installing the new one. http://www.pc-library.com/errors/error-code/183-0xB7/ Hope that helps.
