Registry cleaning causes ATI Catalys Control Center to crash

Recommended Posts

hi, i'm using CCleaner since quite some time now and i'm pretty happy with it.

i just want to share this problem i'm having with the registry cleaner feature.

when scanning for problems CCleaner finds these 3 usually among others:

well the problem is pretty simple: removing those 3 problems result in ATI Catalyst Control Center to crash when selecting AVIVO Video -> Basic Quality (the one tab with the video of the red flag)

if i restore the backup everything works again and CCC no longer crash

here's the backup:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\C4.CCCCom]@="C4.CCCCom"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\C4.CCCCom\CLSID]@="{CC7C96DF-1942-4D46-9FCD-810EF1C56C2D}"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\UserInterfaceObject.AtiPropertySheetACE]@="User Interface Object, AtiPropertySheetACE"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\UserInterfaceObject.AtiPropertySheetACE\CLSID]@="{872A9397-E0D6-4E28-B64D-52B8D0A7EA35}"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\UserInterfaceObject.AtiPropertySheetACE\CurVer]@="UserInterfaceObject.AtiPropertySheetACE.1"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\UserInterfaceObject.AtiPropertySheetACE.1]@="User Interface Object, AtiPropertySheetACE"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\UserInterfaceObject.AtiPropertySheetACE.1\CLSID]@="{872A9397-E0D6-4E28-B64D-52B8D0A7EA35}"

as you can see it has definitely something to do with the ATI drivers and it's something that shouldn't be deleted.

this happens on Windows Vista 64 and any recent version of the ATI drivers. oh, and of course i'm on the latest CCleaner release.

:)
