I wanted to uninstall just two apps using CCleaner and it turned into a complete disaster.
Instead of removing only the selected programs, CCleaner deleted a bunch of other applications from my PC with no warning and no confirmation.

What happened:

  • multiple programs disappeared completely

  • CCleaner removed system entries related to installed apps

  • some software was wiped from disk, not just unregistered

I had to use System Restore to fix everything because it couldn’t be undone normally.

Bottom line:
Do NOT use CCleaner’s “Uninstall” feature. This tool has been causing issues like this for years.
Only uninstall apps using:

  • Windows Settings → Apps

  • official uninstallers from software developers

CCleaner is fine for cleaning temporary files, but not for removing applications.

If this saves someone’s system, good.

I am a paid customer, I am now paying to downgrade to the previous version. You should do that as well. Go back to Version 6.39x

Why are you paying?
If you have a valid licence key already just enter it into CCleaner v6.39 Free to activate it as Pro.

Follow ALL of the instructions, particularly about turning off the Automatic Updating and deleting ‘CCupdate.exe’, if you do not follow the instructions then your newly rolled back CCleaner will just update to CCleaner7 again.
