I'm trying it out now via the new Chrome homepage, decided to give it a go because of its smaller memory and resource footprint compared to Adblock for Chrome. Hard to believe it's been mentioned before but I never looked into it.
I tried it but went back to Adblock for Chrome. However I'll likely try it again because I'm tired of the bugs in Adblock for Chrome such as its always reoccurring bug of not being able to download a filter list, and whatever they've been doing the past few versions two filters are now impossible to download even when uninstalling the extension and reinstalling it - that old workaround trick doesn't work anymore so time to dump it for good.
I've removed uBlock for the second time. I couldn't remember why all those months ago I removed it but now I remember why and the reason is everytime I'd open the browser it would state many of the filters had an update available, and it wasn't blocking everything some of the filters had available, and to top it off it wouldn't save my custom blocks.
In any event people on the Chrome store have stated to use uBlock (origin) - not uBlock, something about selling out or whatnot which was mentioned in the AdBlock for Chrome comments since it now has "Acceptable Ads" as a filter which I've disabled.
I've had no issues with ublock origin. I didn't really pay attention to all the eDrama surrounding it but stuck with origin because gorhill was the original creator.
maybe @Andavari your issue with uBlock is Chrome related or in not using the Origin offshoot.
in the 2 days I've been playing with it (along side Ghostery), although not matching exactly, they are finding very similar things and the 2 custom blocks I have put into uBlock Origin are still there.
but I agree with filter update in uBlock Origin. even after purging the cache and updating, unticking and reticking the filter in question, sometimes not all the entries get listed, and redoing that exercise, the number of entries can change but still not equal the total number available.
for example, Malware Domains says 10,986 used out of 11,080 and that's as high as she'll go.
but I'm still learning, so maybe it's a PICNIC issue.
just guessing here, but surely you would have to directly contact the author of the list in question and ask them to remove an entry.
they would then go through the same vetting process they used to include the item in the first place to prove the entry should now be removed - or left included.
they would need to make sure that just because some people wanted it removed, that the site was in fact still (or not) malicious.
You can either find it each time in the filter and disable or delete it. Or contact MalwareDomainList for them to look into either removing it if it qualifies - if that's the filter list/hosts file that uBlock is using.
I got to looking an MVPS.org HOSTS file doesn't block it, in the HOSTS files I use it's only listed in MalwareDomainList.
That site comes up clean as of now (but that doesn't mean it was always clean) in:
