Scan stops service

I have been using Pro for some time now. My account is active and up to date. I use Firefox. When I try to do a normal scan, I get the message that cccleaner service is not running. I clicked restart service and get caught in a never ending loop of scan/not running/restart/scan/not running/restart…

I don’t know if this is related, but my bookmarks have been deleted as well. Help!

you could go into windows “services” and make sure that the ccleaner-service “startup type” is set to “automatic.”

here is some information about how to access windows services, in case you don’t know how to do that:

https://www.digitalcitizen.life/ways-access-services-windows/

also, see this link about updating ccleaner and see if updating ccleaner resolves the problem:

https://community.ccleaner.com/t/ccleaner-is-still-busy-with-something-else/161940/2

It is set to automatic and I am running the current version

Also in Services it shows stopped. I restarted it and it stops as soon as I try to scan

What antimalware do you run, could it be stopping the service.

If you right click clean Firefox in ccleaner does this occur?

If you uncheck all of firefox, does the stoppage occur?

Those two tests could exclude or point to it being firefox routine.

I just use Windows Defender.

I went to Custom Clean Browsers to do what I assume is what you were aiming at. By not selecting Firefox, I scanned Edge and it seemed to work properly. So something in Firefox?

@Laurence_CCleaner @CCleaner_Admin is there still a known issue with firefox routine, i seem to remember one flaring up recently but before 7.4

Found it

yes firefox causing issues with ccleaner 7.3 and 7.4 should be fixed in 7.5 according to the linked thread

Hi @Retired1,
As Nergal has said above, we will be making changes for Firefox clearing in v7.5, which will be released shortly.
If you continue to experience this issue after updating to v7.5, please message me back so we can investigate further.

Any idea when that is going to come out? Is there a way to scan everything else without the Firefox part since I can’t do the Health Check?

Just a user like you, I get no advanced knowledge about releases. Was told it wasn’t going to be as late as January’s, but time for that is nigh to pass.

Edit: my migrane made me miss laurence’s post, yes he will know better than me

@Retired1, v7.5 is due to be released very soon. As it is in ongoing development, I am not able to give a specific date; however, it is scheduled to be released earlier in the month than the 7.4 update.

Thanks to both of you. So this means I can not do a Health Check until the update?

@Retired1 You can use Custom Clean with disabled Firefox cleaning until the V7.5 release; however, this should be very soon.

Should I avoid using Firefox until then?

Hi @Retired1,
You can continue to use Firefox, however, it will not be fully cleaned until we release CCleaner v7.5.
However, this should be very soon.

Hi @Retired1,
We have just released the v7.5 update to CCleaner. It may take a few days to be fully available via in app updates. However, you can download the installer from the CCleaner website, and this will install v7.5.
Please let me know if this resolves your issue with Firefox.
