Programs security updates

Nice. :rolleyes: It was/is just something to do.

I don't usually use programs auto-update functions, so i, from time to time, check from the sites for possible updates. So why not notify others as well.

Some stuff I forget to check for updates, and as I say, seeing the links there it didn't take a minute to check them out.

I wouldn't have done that today otherwise.

We are all sober here correct.

Calendars cover the holes in the wall.

Calenders are good for wringing out clothes and making pastries and such. Not necessarily in that order or for that purpose but you get the idea.

Colanders make good helmets especially if you like comedy.

Oh yeah, then there's that lawyer in the Britt sitcoms. Whoops. Now we're getting into consonants. Might end up somewhere in Iowa if I don't watch out.

What's a few vowels between friends anyway. :lol: Or a few consonants for that matter.

I'm just wondering If I need to update from avast! version (4.8.1201) to (4.8.1229)

If avast! version (4.8.1201) has an up to date (virus database) do I really need to update the program?

And If I should update to version (4.8.1229) how do I do it?

Will the later version just install over the current version?

Or do I need to uninstall the version I have? before installing the later version?

Will my Registration Key work with the newer version?

No you don't have to uninstall

Just right click on your avast icon in the system tray.

Click on updating

Click on program update.

After update down will ask for reboot.

I have yet to have any trouble doing it this way.

I have had no trouble with reg key. ( if you completely uninstall and reinstall, then you will have to re input your reg key.

I use Avast pro

I didn't until someone told me how to turn off the "voice of authority" notifying my files have been updated.

I must have played with that "little spinning blue "a" ball" quite a lot since then. So many options that they have tab scrolling.

If it ain't fun, why do it!

I don't think that RealPlayer phomes home, if you change the privacy settings. Uncheck every option from there. I don't use RealPlayer much, but i want to keep it installed, mainly for embedded Real videos on the internet. Although those seems to be somewhat rare now a days. Most have changed from Real to Flash.

I figured out how to change the "voice of authority" to a polite sounding lady through the avast! forum:

It took a bit of poking around in Sound settings as well.
