Try downloading it from here.

I don’t need to download it, I already have it on my pc. The issue is when I click on “Check for updates “ - I get error 0x12029 cannot connect to ccleaner server

Hi @John29,
Could you tell us what version of CCleaner you have installed You can see this in the top left corner of CCleaner.

I have version 6.29.11548

Hi @John29,
This is the latest version of CCleaner so there is no update currently available.
Our team is investigating why you are not getting the correct “Congratulations, this is the very latest version!” message.

Thank you Laurence, I will await further information.

Hi, Laurence

I suspect the reason I am not getting the “Congratulations, this is the very latest version!” message is because error 0x12029 says “connection to server could not be established”. Furthermore, my settings are for “Automatic updates” and I used to get a “A newer version of CCleaner is available” message, which I did not get for version 6.49.11548 - which is why I tried clicking “Check for updates”.

Hope this helps

Thanks @John29,
I have added this to the details sent to the development team who are investigating the issue.

Hi @John29

With this being Windows 7 I assume that you will have a 3rd party antivirus or internet security installed, which one(s) do you use?

I’m wondering if something may have changed your firewall settings and is now blocking the connection to the update checker?
Have you recently made any changes to your internet security settings/firewalls?
Or has your existing antivirus had an update that may have changed the firewalls?

Maybe have you recently installed a new antivirus or internet security?

Thank you, Laurence

I have always used Microsoft Security Essentials and I haven’t changed anything. Thank you anyway.

Have a read of this old thread, perhaps it’s a host file issue.

Don’t think so, Hazelnut. I have CCleanerFree

I think it is best to wait and see what the development team finds. Thanks anyway

Hi @John29,
Our development team has implemented a server side update that should resolve the issue you were experiencing. Please give it another try and let us know if everything is working smoothly now.

Hi Laurence

I have tried clicking “Check for updates” again and I still get “0x12029: A connection with the server could not be estabished”.

Should I uninstall and reinstall CCleaner version 6.39.11548 (64 bit) first in order for the side update to take effect?

Hi @John29,
As these are server side updates you should not need to uninstall and reinstall, however they may take time to be picked up by CCleaner.
Please try again in 24 hours and if still no change again in 48 hours then if still no change message me back so I can follow up witht the team on this.

I have the same problem. Windows 7 and 8.1 64 bits. error 0x12029.

Hi @sanmo,
Our development team has made a server side update that should have resolved this issue.
Are you still experiencing this?
If so, please uninstall and reinstall CCleaner and let me know if this resolves the issue.

Hi Laurence

You told me on 10 Sep that it should not be necessary to uninstall and reinstall CCleaner for the server side updates to take effect, but you told sanmo to do just that, so I have done it too and it still does not work! I attach a screenshot of the screen today AFTER uninstalling and reinstalling and await further advice from you
