Feedback on Version 7 (and why I uninstalled)

MEMBERS WILL BE REMINDED THAT THIS IS AN OFFICIAL SITE. a long time rule for this site is no competition software mentions. I understand the want/need to go to other software, that’s your choice. but burger king doesn’t allow McDonalds to post “come get a big mac down the street” adverts in their store.

I wanted to follow up on something I mentioned a few days ago. I don’t often use the uninstall feature, except for programs that keep reinstalling themselves and for which I’m unsure of their purpose. As noted in my snapshot, the new Cleaner V7 doesn’t list nearly as many programs for uninstall as the previous version did. Was this change intentional? The Local Artificial Intelligence Manager appears as an option in the prior version, but it, along with a few others, is not listed in version 7.

I use geek to uninstall, small, free & stand alone.

I agree with everything bad. Piriform have really blew it. Been using CCleaner for almost 20yrs and it is now history, not the same as the history CCleaner no longer cleans because it freezes.

It’s honestly unbelievable that after three weeks of constant backlash, not a single official CCleaner representative has stepped in with a real statement.

We’ve had hundreds of posts, detailed bug reports, loyal subscribers cancelling en masse — and all we’ve heard are moderators repeating “please don’t post duplicates” or “don’t name competitors.”

If moderators are just community volunteers, then this “official” forum has effectively become a soundproof complaint box. What’s the point of a “Support Community” when it doesn’t actually connect to the people who built or broke the product?

Version 7 isn’t just a bad redesign — it’s a trust failure. You erased configurations people curated for years, merged features that never belonged together, and forced background processes that behave more like spyware than cleanup tools.

And the silence? That’s worse than the bugs. It shows that users’ voices are now treated as noise instead of feedback.

If anyone from Piriform or Gen Digital is actually reading this — the community doesn’t need another “ideas board.” It needs acknowledgment, transparency, and an apology. Until then, this forum feels like a museum of ignored customers moderated by people who can’t fix what’s broken.

I created an account just to post on this thread because I agree with all the others when saying that version 7 is an atrocity. It’s time to recommend and find another product to keep PC’s cleaner. No way to pin the sidebar, basically no options, so many cut-downs. SMH.

Long time using CCleaner and 7 has soured my taste completely for the product. The UI is garbage and overall its just poor. Also its riddled with bugs. Custom clean doesn’t seem to follow the selections you pick especially browsers. Bring back the old versions.

Thank you for giving an out from V7.0. I agree as a long time user of CCleaner, version 7.0 is horrid and does not reflect the perfection the tool had prior to the latest version. Missing features, error when cleaning, etc. I have now removed it and now using the version in this post. Again, thank you.

Oh, so it’s not impossible. Just incredibly stupid. Good to know.

Even if the entire thing wasn’t a ridiculous downgrade in every way, removing any internal way to shut down the program makes me fundamentally distrust your product and company as a whole. Instant uninstall.

I agree, ccleaner 7 is a disaster, /auto option no longer works, other location of the app, no cookies white list where you can choose which you want to keep, I will no longer use ccleaner and looking for an alternative

Same here, I downgraded and uninstalled CC7. It’s also much slower than CC6 and doesn’t even work with half of the tasks, just telling me that things didn’t work, linking to a nonexistent support file for why the program failed. So much work, just to run it and then it doesn’t even work. I just told my company to cancel all subscriptions. The driver updater already has caused a lot of trouble, but this is just unbelievable.

By far the worst update on any product I have ever used. I uninstalled, but no fast enough to prevent all my stored cookies for trusted sites being removed and reinstalled the previous version. I will continue using that until it is withdrawn and then won’t renew my subscription. Whoever designed the new interface should be sacked

Yes Do a search on your browser, I follow ccleaner’s instructions, worked good

Hopefully the Ccleaner management will be as brave as the Coca Cola management was when they messed up . . .

Oh I agree, wow, the memories!! I know this might not be the most helpful comment, but I’m just venting here. I do wonder though—do companies like this just try to recreate what they think is best and then wait for survey feedback, or do they actually work with a small group of 15-20 typical users to refine what already worked well? This seems to be the same case with things like Windows 11 and other updates. The argument is often that we’re just resistant to change and can’t accept the “new,” but that’s not always the most customer-centric perspective.

I’ve got both versions installed, and honestly, V6 just feels so much more streamlined. It really seems like it was designed with the user in mind. With just a few more tweaks and perhaps a format facelift, I think V7 could have been a smoother transition.
