Feedback on Version 7 (and why I uninstalled)

Agree!

The removing of whitelist cookies is the only reason I use CCleaner

RIP CCleaner

No care for users at all!

I have been using it for well over a decade if not much longer!

Horrible

I too have been using CCleaner for many many years to support hundreds of elderly Windows users through a very well known charity. I have recommended it to the majority of my contacts and they have kept their machines junk-free and running after years of simple but essential use. This release is awful! Unusable to an inexperienced and elderly user.

I have uninstalled it from my machine and will encourage all my contacts to follow suit.

Goodbye!

uninstalled 7. i used to use the regclean feature, ive been using this application for its entire life (since v1.x) until now. this new version is unusable now.

  • no way to make sure it exits on close, tries to run in background

  • cookie settings on feedback section can only be set once - i wanted to make sure no third party cookies were allowed, couldn’t set the cookie settings after initial cookie-settings configuration prompt

  • puts windows scheduler items to upload logs every day - sneaky way to get info off the computer back to mothership.

  • user experience when removing state reg entries ruined, 6.x regclean experience was much better

  • ux - trying to look like malwarebytes, and thats not good, they ruined their user experience in a similar way, but at least i can malwarebytes to exit without terminating it in taskmanager

  • reverted to v6.39.11548

Agreed! They really messed up the whole program in the upgrade from version 6.3 to version 7. I still have time left on my subscription so i downgraded back to version 6.3. All my old cookies saved miraculously came back, but i had to readjust my settings again. This company will lose me, when the time comes (in one year) to upgrade back to version 7.0+

I am Not Against anything new, as long as it works!!! and as far as I can see your replacing a Better , Much Superior , Easier Configured item with a Piece of Junk!!

I have been using this since you put it on the internet! And have linked it onto Hundreds of People and Business’s, Now, I could not recommend this if you even Sponsored Me top Do So!

The new version came in because I had to reinstall the computer, the last job I have done for Years, is to download CCLEANER, and run it to clean up all the install gumph. In came the New Version, and its a simple nightmare to navigate and deal with!

Things that are Good(ish),

Modern type interface to go along with the new Windows / Cloud / AI Bandwagon

That’s It, Nothing Else, the rest is simply MEH

Things I do Not Like, Verging on HATE, and the reason for Uninstalling, Never to be installed again, until others suffer and you get a Grip of reality!

the ability to easily go in and set the items you want! (example the internet cookies, I use that a lot, as i do not always bookmark the sites, the oppositions Website for work, Not a good thing to be seen looking at. The new version was a pain in the but to find, and when i did, it did not work!!! Proof came when i put in the old version, and all the COOKIES that the new version was meant to have cleaned were all still sitting there!! Proof the new one DOES NOT WORK

I use this multiple times per day as i am always messing around with software (it’s the JOB I have) the custom Clean is superb for this, the new version is not as comprehensive, and HAS to include the OS, I Do not want that touched!!!

Whilst going through trying to get settings , to alter this to a workable state, Now I get UPGRADE!!!, No I want his working so Close, Next Page to find Settings, before I fin any , UPGRADE , Constantly, Best upgrade for that tactic UININSTALL….

After uninstalling, I put in the old V6 version, and ran it… even though the V7 Version had Cleaned the system ( new install of windows not a lot to clean) and announced that it was all nice and clean, The V6 version Basically found Tons that the V7 had completely missed!!!

That Proves not only is it a pile of manure to use, it does not Work!!

Lastly, the Taskbar Icon, it has no exit / Quit / Hide, therefor everyone thinks as per the old one, its running, and people are paranoid about AI / Spying on their systems, it cannot be turned off even via the registry , unless you stop the Service!

That is the main reason your reputation is now in Tatters, And I will be putting it up on the Corporate forum Here that NOBODY is to Upgrade or Install on corporate systems, and recommending that they do not alter their home systems either… Simply because when it goes wrong they will as the IT guys “for a Favour” on sorting it, and thats going to chew up work time!

So sorry , its Gone, and will be a long time until its allowed back on, you have destroyed your reputation in an instant.

I fully agree with everything here. In fact, I deleted version 7 and used my software program (I can’t disclose the name) that installs and updates my desktop programs. It still had the most recent prior version of CCleaner, not the new one, which helped me.

Two things I noticed, along with what others have mentioned: my programs run smoother now, and I did have an issue where version 7 stopped at 66% during a health check.

One last small note: there is an installed program that I suspect comes from MS Office called “Local Artificial Intelligence” that I delete whenever I see it under installed programs. Cleaner V7 doesn’t show this program, but the prior version does, giving me the option to remove it.

After using V7 for a few weeks and then returning to the original version, the difference is huge and complete. I also removed the automatic updates option, as I plan to stick with the current version for now.

unbelievable mistake, have been using for years, actually first time it has gotten worse in years. Terrible lack of control, useful for idiots… I need the granularity of the items in the registry, and seeing what is actually there…. you have removed that control and information

the health scan takes so long, that I uninstalled it!!!

You have ruined a great product…. what’s the best alternative until CCleaner is fixed, or confirmed permanently ruined?

This seems to have become the COLLECTIVE thread for discussing how bad CC7 is because it has the most posts numerically on this topic notwithstanding the MANY other threads here about how bad CC7 is.

So, just adding my voice to the collective - CC7 is AWFUL.

After 2 PC towers being killed off in 48 hours I am not sure what has been going on. Both PCs would not boot reporting boot errors. Unable to boot from HDD, DVD or USB to recover. I initially held CC7 to account but the news today reports MS update problems causing similar outage. After eventually managing to recover one of the towers yesterday I receive an alert from my AV provider this morning. It reports that my system resources are overloaded, registry issues etc. Then it asks for a fee! I have no idea where to go with this as I cannot hold anyone to account at this moment in time.

I’ve been a Ccleaner user for over 20 years.
First thing I install on new builds and I use it multiple times every day.
Not anymore - I’ve now cancelled my subscription.

The Reg cleaner is bad and the Cookie Manager is awful - I’m not going to sit around collecting URL’s to manually add to the Cookie area by hand every day.
Also - it takes AGES to scan and freezes or crashes all the time.

I can roll back but that won’t be a permanent option as there will be no updates moving forward.
So I’m out.
You’ve ruined a great and trusted product overnight

I’m kinda gutted as I love Ccleaner and advise people to use it all the time.
Well, I did..
I’ll now be advising people to uninstall.

It’s a bittersweet goodbye.

I agree, V7 is terrible compared to the previous version - no auto clean of browser on closing, no schedule to clean PC regularly.

Every action now requires several steps to find & execute.

Several components hang during scan, performance scanner hangs at 70% for a while.

Now further bloated with program updater & a program uninstaller.

I’m returning to the previous version & this will be my last year subscribed.

I agreed with everything said here. This reminds me of the 90s when really good programs came out but then with each upgrade they just became BLOATWARE. Each new upgrade the software ran slower and users had less control to configure for how they want to use the software. All those companies screwed up good software then sales droped and they went out of business. The one thing I always like about Ccleaner was how fast it ran and that I could configure how to use the software. I am a IT professinal of 50 years and have always recommend Ccleaner to users but no longer with version 7. I am rolling back to version 6 and will no longer renew my subscription of the Pro version. I just wonder did this screwup come about due to piriform being bought by Avast? This new version runs so slow it is rediculous(Bloatware). They are going to lose me as a customer.

Version 7 is a real nightmare:

  • It no longer has a button to stop the program, which is very invasive.
  • And when you reinstall version 6, the application systematically forces you to migrate to version 7…
  • The graphical interface, which tends to borrow from the “flat design” trend, is disappointing (like all these flat design displays that use a lot of screen space to display very little!)

It’s completely unbearable not being able to stop this application, which seems uncontrollable.
I had to uninstall it on all my workstations, and I won’t be renewing my licenses in 2026…

Thank you very much. Have used simple Ccleaner for decades and hated all the nagging to add more stuff. Then bam CC 7 took a dump on my computer. Probably would not have been able to find this on my own.

All back to normal except latest v6 does not remove Internet Explorer - Temporary Internet Files. It used to but does not know.

Version 7 sucks!

I’ve been a loyal CCleaner user for many years, but now I have cancelled my subscription and reverted to Version 6

I don’t have to document all the issues the community has already done this - It’s a very bad day for what used to be a great product.

A combination of {Competition Software removed} and {Competition Software removed} will do fine and they are free to use
