CCleaner7

After multiple installations, CCleaner7 still won’t start. I then remove all traces of it and re-install CCleaner6. But when I click on the CCleaner6 icon, a screen appears offering me INSTALL. And that leads to downloading piece-of-#### CCleaner7. So I’m trapped. After YEARS of using CCleaner, now I have to look around for an alternative. *** If anybody has a suggestion, I’m all ears.***

Sadly, we don’t allow competitive software suggestions, except in very extreme circumstances by a moderator or staff member, so no go there

Read it again, bud. fishpoem, not I, was suggesting which he has every right to do, which WE SUBSCRIBERS have every right to do, since we are paying for software THAT DOESN’T WORK. I “liked” it because he is right.

I’ve never been called a fishpoem before, i like it. From now on I am fishpoem.

That said, I’m a moderator and spelling out things that aren’t allowed is my job. We don’t allow alternate product suggestions on this official website.

Ok, but the solution to the problem?

I’m having the same issue, the program suggested me to update, thing i did, wich i regrets, because now i can’t use it..

Fix the problem!

Many people are unhappy with the new version 7. Best that you can do is air your grievances and hope the developers listen.

Oh and what is this forum for, if not to the developers know there is an issue?

what is the point of you here?

I often ask that too. The version seven is only a few days old. Yes, the forum is for developers to know there are issues. That only thing I’m saying is forbidden is other company’s software as an alternative to CCleaner.

Here’s the culprit behind all this: C:\Program Files\CCleaner\temp_ccupdate\ ccupdate700_pro.exe. In order for me to continue to use CCleaner6 (a great product): 1.get rid of this directory and the file 2. remove as many instances from the Registry as you can (some you can’t) 3. do a Restart 4. disconnect from the Internet 5 reinstall CCleaner6. If you don’t clean out all references to CCleaner7, you will be forced to install it every time you try to launch CCleaner6. THIS IS A USER FIXING THE PROBLEM so I’m sharing for others. I’ve been in the computer business a long time and have NEVER seen a more devious attempt to force users to install a product THAT DOESN’T WORK. Absolutely disgraceful.

Afraid of competition, are you? Well, I can tell the developers one place to look. Windows Defender does not allow code from CCleaner to be written to or change Memory, and I’ll drink to that! As far as I’m concerned, CCleaner allowed/demanded too much access anyway. I recommend Firefox as a browser with good security features in itself and via add-ons.

First of all, I don’t know where you are, but I am in the US of A,and we don’t do “strictly forbidden” anymore. In this case, I think the FTC and FCC would like to know about this. Secondly, CCleaner is not a great product, obviously. Thirdly, you shouldn’t be messing around with your Registry like that and there is actually another excellent cache-cleaning program that will do your “Step 2” for you safely. But, alas, it is strictly forbidden. LOL. Read this post carefully and you’ll find it. Or maybe in a reply to this post…. Right now in the USA there is a long weekend and if CCleaner programmers are in the USA, they probably bugged out on Thursday night and won’t be back until Tuesday AM. It is NOT an excellent program as it is intrusive and suspect to me and I do not plan to reinstall it even if they fix it. Windows and iOS have built in easy cache cleaners plus a couple of other good add-ons can be found if you use Firefox. Don’t be so lazy. Not worth it…

@MJM5

There is no need to play games hiding names, (I removed it BTW), because there is no problem with mentioning Revo Uninstaller here.
It’s a good programme to have, it’s installed on all of my computers

Have a link too: Download Revo Uninstaller Free - Remove unwanted programs easily

Many of us have mentioned it multiple times:
https://community.ccleaner.com/search?q=Revo%20uninstaller%20order%3Alatest_topic

It is the context that apps are mentioned/linked in that may get that mention/link removed, not just the fact that an particular app has been mentioned/linked.

Have a read of the forum posting guidelines:

Dude, THANK YOU. I just downloaded it. As an aside, nothing is more golden than honesty. I’m an Alaska commercial fisherman with an engineering degree and have been a contractor in public and private sectors. I’ve encountered an army of middle managers who, like cats, try to bury their sh*t. Companies often try to gloss-over problems. Fear of truth are poison in any area of life. It sends companies into bankruptcy, and it sends boats to the bottom of the sea.

Have anyone got it running? I have tried upgrading to 7 on both my Windows 10 systems.
But it won’t start on any of them. The service is starting, but no program is opening.
Someone must come up witha solution here. I have paid for 3 years subscription!

The company apparently thinks that silence will make the problem go away. They need to recall 7 and publicly apologize to all the users that have trusted them. It’s bad enough that 7 is crap, but to have their installer block 6, which DOES work, reveals near-criminal morality.

Whatever… But thanks anyway. Too many people playing CYA these days.

It is, of course, your decision what software you choose to use, but Revo is a good tool in your kit. And best of luck! I understand where you are coming from as I am on the New England coast.

Have anyone gotten a resonse using the contact form to contact them?
As paying customers (I have two years left of my subscription) we should get some support.
Form can be found at: https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general

Don’t hold your breath. It’s a long “holiday” weekend for some anyway. Also, if possible, sign up for new software for the shortest possible time because you never know. The same for renewing nowadays.

I didn’t need to go in to the Registry to clean things out. But I did need to: uninstall CC7, then DELETE the CCleaner folder which remained. It would not let me delete it in Windows, saying that ‘a file is open’. So I had to use my WinXP rescue disk to delete the CCleaner folder outside Windows, then re-install CC6.39 and quickly un-tick the auto update boxes. So far so good.
