You can delete “Open’ files using the DOS box. First shut down the running file in Task Manager.
I just filed a complaint using the form you highlighted. Subject: “CCLEANER7 DOES NOT WORK. It should be recalled and a REFUND or CREDIT issued to users.” I then provided a step-by-step description of the problem and the work-around that I created. CCleaner6 is fine, but the developers tried to prevent people for using it and force them to use 7.

I have uninstalled the latest version of Ccleaner, V.7 as it falls far below the usual standard offered by this software which I have used for years. My computer crashed and I lost the ability to run lots of different software having installed Ccleaner V7. Actually, I didn’t install it, it installed itself and continued to reinstall itself every few minutes despite already being installed. It has interfered with lots of other software, so much so I cannot run update my Opera Browser and had to reinstall MIcrosoft Office. It took a lot of doing to uninstall it and I won’t be returning unless these bugs can be addressed. I found V7 cumbersome and perplexing to use. I Loved the older versions. I am so sorry to have to abandon Ccleaner but cannot risk the damage it might cause again.

I have been a CCleaner user for a number of years and have another year to run on this sub. This week has been horrendous. Every time I turn my PC on, windows 10, I get a message to install version 7. This has now been done so many times I have lost count. I ended up uninstalling both version 7 and 6. Reinstalling 6 again and was immediately subjected to reinstalling 7. This then reboots my pc. I have to plan my pc use around the constant re-installation of CCleaner 7. This is not only extremely frustrating but time consuming as well. My pc has slowed down a lot and as it is an older machine is making life difficult. There have been some instances where it has high-jacked my keyboard as well when I can only type in “special characters”. Yet another reboot needed. I will not be renewing my subscription next year if this cannot be rectified.

Well - to put this kindly, you seem a tad clueless about MS Windows and you simply cannot do that with crappy Microsoft. Add to that, now you will have to switch to Windows 11 as MS is not supporting Windows 10 anymore.
As a first step, open CCleaner, whatever version, and click on Options. Under Updates, uncheck both boxes, i.e. no updates. Turn off all automatic options like Smart Cleaning. Uncheck everything under Advanced until you know what they do. Under Custom Clean, be careful of what you want cleaned and what you do not want cleaned.
Install RevoUninstaller Pro - go to website - download it and clean up the junk on your disk. And/or check out microsoft.com or do a Web Search or YouTube search for help.
But, hey, good for you, I think CCleaner very well may have tried to hijack your keyboard, CCleaner 7, that is. Try to get CCleaner 6 loaded and use your License Key for CCleaner 6 to activate, but after you have cleaned up your disk.
BEST SOLUTION: Find a 15 year old geek. Remember, you are not dealing with the motherboard on the Starship Enterprise, but you are dealing with MS software and firmware. Maybe the Klingons did better, but I don’t know how to get in touch with them.

Do a roll back to version 6.39 , there is a forum thread that explains how to do that. Only takes a minute.
Here’s a simple solution for Win10: open Explorer…goto C:\Program Files\CCleaner\temp_ccupdate…edit setup.ini…delete any commands…save the file…right-click setup.ini…set Attributes to Read-only and Hidden…click the Security tab…check Group or user names…get rid of anything but (User [your PC name]\Users). The installer file, ccupdate700_pro.exe, will still be in \temp_ccupdate..If you delete it, it just gets re-installed, ignore it. The setup.ini file is the real demon that truly evil developers installed to make your life measurable. They all should be FIRED for pulling that stunt.
I found why it didn’t work on my computers. It need you to have WebView 2 installed to work!
But they have removed all the unique features. So now I’ll just stick with {Competition Removed}
Thanks, Lars..I’m replacing CCleaner piece by piece. I tried {competition removed} for free. I liked what I saw, and bought it. I’ll take a look at {Competition Removed}, too. The real issue isn’t just the software itself. CCleaner is just one of multiple products pimped by the conglomerate GEN. The CEO makes $22M a year, so why should he care that v.7 is a joke?
MEMBERS WILL BE REMINDED THAT THIS IS AN OFFICIAL SITE. a long time rule for this site is no competition software mentions. I understand the want/need to go to other software, that’s your choice. but burger king doesn’t allow McDonalds to post “come get a big mac down the street” adverts in their store.
Given that you’ve shown zero interest in repairing a product that doesn’t work (at least for some of us) you should actually ENCOURAGE alternatives. You’ve left users like me no choice but to replace key areas of CCleaner functionality with products from other vendors that DO work. This after having subscribed to CCleaner for decades. That should worry you.
I’m a user like you, and have no control of development.
that said, as i said feel free to jump ship, I’ve thought of it, but don’t tell us where you went or it will be censored, this is a long standing policy.
