Adding my two cents. This new version 7 is a piece of crap. CCleaner does not recognize cookies on certain websites even though I have the website listed in the safe category. I have deleted websites that I no longer go to but then when you open CCleaner again the website is back in the safe category even though I previously deleted it. You turned an outstanding program into something that doesn’t work. Congratulations.

I too have used this program since the beginning. I only now made an account just so I could add my opinion which mirrors everyone else’s above. I don’t even see any comments from devs understanding the frustration and considering changing it back. I only see a rollback option, which I also did, but it gave me all default settings, so I will have to system restore since I had specific cookies and settings attributed to ccleaner. This is like the Windows Vista of upgrades. This is like when Tom sold MySpace and the site completely changed under new ownership so everyone jumped over to Facebook, which has been the most popular social website because of that reason alone. Learn from others past mistakes, don’t repeat them. Who thought this was a good idea?

CCleaner now produces multiple ‘unable to clean’ notices for various parts of my system that it once worked on. I can’t get ‘under the bonnet’ to see what’s going on. So frustrated, I came here to see if there was a simple solution. I really wasn’t expecting that the best advice would be .. go back to the last version. I was always happy to pay for the full service in the expectation of a product that worked and I could trust. Not ready to throw it all away yet, but the clock is ticking. My next computer won’t have CCleaner on it, unless you fix things. Sorry.

I am adding my voice to the list of unhappy customers. This program has become all but unusable for me now as it is.

I just used it for one thing, to wipe internet tracking when done browsing. It doesn’t give me anywhere near the control it used to as to what cookies to keep. It doesn’t let me make decisions. It just takes a sledgehammer to everything.

I had been considering switching to other software when I saw the Beta for CCleaner, and the direction you were headed. I was hoping that by the time it released, all of the old functionality would be restored.

I’m canceling my subscription. A customer from over a decade that you have now lost. Not to mention that I recommended this to everyone that asked me for computer help. No longer!

THANKS FOR THIS. The last time I saw a mess as bad as CCleaner 7 was when it was my turn to change my son’s nappy.

I went back to 6.20 It still works the way it should. Been using ccleaner since my first computer 20 years i guess. They goofed on version 7. Trying to do too much instead of focusing on what they did well.

I am fully disgusted with the new Version 7 of CCleaner. Either this garbage software gets fixed back to what it was or I’m done. I have been using CCleaner for countless years, and I cannot believe this stunningly pathetic update. IT IS HORRIBLE!!!

CCleaner did a full Cracker Barrell, but they reverted back, will you?

I am using CCleaner Professional. I have one suggestion for Gen Digital Inc.: please revert to the previous version, as version 7 is a huge mistake. Everything is said in the forums. All the features we were using just disappeared. If not, I am very sorry, but after more than 10 years using this product, I will move to another alternative.

Why change a good thing? CCleaner 7 is totally useless, options are disabled and I can’t log in. Please tell me how to do a rollback or else give me a refund. Used it for years but that end here for me.. who thought this update was a good idea clearly has no idea who his users are and what they want.

What a pity the new version 7 is not a patch on former versions. I too have used and recommended CCleaner for many years but no longer. I’ve renewed the licence for a further two years before the change to V7 and now regret having done so!

Nice job, you Cracker Barreled CCCleaner. Why not hire Dylan Mulvaney to do your advertisements. Now save yourselves further embarrassment and go back to what works before you lose your entire user base. Deleting and looking for replacement.

It’s an abomination which I have deleted and installed the earlier. The lack of control over cookies etc is ridiculous - don’t they realise that many sites issue a “one-off” monthly login code but using v7 means that the code is deleted and you need a new one every time you login now after using v7.

I will have to look for a similar product before v6 is decommissioned.

I dislike the new simplified version. I went back to the older version. Lack of cookie control is wrong on so many levels.

Like many here, I’ve been using CCleaner for many years.
Whenever there are changes to software, some people like it and others dislike it, that’s natural, but this time, the version update changed the program’s main core features, and for the worse.
There are several things that were once possible that are now gone. So far, I haven’t found anything functionally better than the previous version, just a prettier interface, which doesn’t make the slightest difference to me.

In my opinion, the focus of this update was to make the program as basic as possible, removing the main advanced features it had, which, for me, don’t work.

What I’ll do as a consumer. I’ve already blocked automatic updates and will remain on version 6 and wait until my subscription ends. Until then, I’ll monitor whether version 7 improves or continues to underperform, and I’ll look for alternatives.

Been using it on every PC of mine all these years. Few days ago the version 7 installed itself and - it couldn’t start. I was like “ok, that was weird, let’s manually do a clean new install” and it again failed to even start. I’m not going to waste time on finding a solution, they can either offer us a stable product or watch us walk away. Simple as that, decade+ of active use means nothing if it takes a radical turn towards disaster.

Please provide a way to download old version. I don’t like the new design at all.

More than that, new duplicate files finder doesn’t have options to filter by size, and to search by file content

Same here. I found the old version, but the install removed all my “cookies to keep” and every custom setting. Even after reinstalling 6.39. Thanks CCleaner! What a pile of crap not sure what you were thinking, and no custom install, no way to stop it.

And before 6.39 you had at least 2 versions that did not clear Chrome history. What a joke.

Glad I installed a new GPU yesterday, so the image was only 1 day old.
