CCleaner ver 6.34.11482 freezes computer for 10-15 seconds after cleaning finishes

Just updated a few daze ago and… CCleaner ver 6.34.11482 freezes computer for 10-15 seconds after cleaning finishes. Upon finishing cleaning, the CCleaner window shades-out maybe 33% and the entire computer freezes for 10-15 seconds. No real harm done that I am aware of, but such has never happened in my many years using free CCleaner. I’m running: Windows 10 Pro, Version 22H2, Processor Intel(R) Core™ i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz 4.01 GHz, Installed RAM 8.00 GB, System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor.

Same thing for me.
After recent update for CCleaner free v6.34.11482, every time I clean the interface window briefly dims to grey for a second, then it is fine. Never used to do this. Don’t know what is wrong. Seems to be working, just this strange behavior.
Windows 10 Home 22H2 build19045.5608

Are you using Custom Clean or Health Check when this happens?

(Or is it another part of CCleaner that you are using?)

I use Custom Clean only. Have for decades. Never use any of the new stuff that has been added. I just use the simple, unadorned Custom Clean.
Thank you for your response.

I’m not seeing it on Windows 11, so it may be something that’s Win 10 related.
I’ll try a Win 10 laptop sometime later today.

It occurs when using Custom Clean. I’ve been using the same Custom Clean setiings for years.

i am glad that some of the others posted about this. i noticed something similar and wanted to post about it. i only use ccleaner’s custom clean. i don’t use ccleaner’s “health check” because it doesn’t show what is going to be removed when you run it.

after i run ccleaner’s custom clean, to remove junk-files, like the OP said, the ccleaner window “shades out.” it goes dark, briefly. afterwards, i proceed to close ccleaner and i don’t notice any ill-effects from it.

i don’t know what strange process ccleaner is doing to cause it to go dark, briefly, after i run its cleaning process.

i don’t see any new ccleaner “startup” entries, or any new ccleaner “tasks.”

Same thing here with a similar system - mine has an Intel i3 processor.

I’ve done some testing and this appears to be being caused by a change to Windows graphics (possibly Nvidia) rather than being caused by any changes to CCleaner.

See:

Does it on my system , but I only have Intel graphics.

I have Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630.
So is this a bug Ccleaner is going to fix?

Admin doesn’t tell ahead of time tell which bugs will be fixed in a version. My guess is they are just learning of this from this thread. Very rarely is there an update out of monthly cycle. So, at the very least April’s update, which should be in the next few weeks. But they may not have worked it out by then so maybe later.

Remember that we are not sure what has caused this - It wasn’t the update to v6.34 because I see the same thing with v6.33.
6.33 wasn’t doing it before so something external to CCleaner must have changed, it’s changed in both Windows 10 and 11, it’s changed for more than one company’s graphics (NVIDA and Intel).

In other words everything seems to point to Microsoft having changed something in Windows.

If it isn’t a glitch in Windows to fix, but rather an intended change in Windows that CCleaner will have to work with then no doubt CCleaner will do that.
However, as it is’t affecting functionallity then it probably won’t be high on the developers To-Do list.

Agree - the screen flash in Custom Clean is not harming anything (from what I can see) , it is simply annoying.
