I had a TERRIBLE experience with CCleaner 7. This CCleaner Update window just appeared on my PC. I decided to click Install, so it’s on me, but I wish I hadn’t. I thought there would be opportunities to abort the installation, but that one click seemed to install CCleaner 7. No confirmation, no check boxes, just Boom. There was also no progress bar or other indication that it was being installed. When I started the program, it was CCleaner 7, with a Scan Now button.
I clicked on some of the other Icons and found Cloud Drive Analyzer, Disk Analyzer, Ideas Portal, Settings, and Help. In Settings, there was an option to enable auto-update. It was enabled, and clicking on disabled did nothing. I also could not get back to the first screen with the Scan Now button. I had to close and restart the program to get back to the Scan Now screen. Another panel had Privacy settings, but I could not change any of them, and when I clicked on one, CCleaner 7 crashed.
I restarted it and thought maybe once I do a scan (with no option to input what will or will not be scanned), everything else will appear. I clicked on the Scan Now button and nothing happened. I don’t get it. Where are disk and file cleaner, Registry cleaner, driver updates, and software updates? Why can’t I change any of the options I tried? Why did it crash when I was in the Privacy menu? Why did the Scan Now button not do anything? I uninstalled CCleaner 7 from Windows Control Panel, downloaded and installed v6.39.
CCleaner customers should have a choice whether they want to install beta software. The one-click and no way out Install process was bad. There was no statement saying you can try CCleaner 7 beta if you want. Maybe something went wrong with my install because CCleaner 7 was completely non-functional, and I could not find any of the features I use CCleaner for. Now I am reading in the Roll Back thread that CCleaner v6.39 will start with all default settings, so now I have to go through and set everything up again. NOT HAPPY!
