I have been using cCleaner Pro for years, never a problem. I have auto updates and notifications TURNED OFF. With that being said, cCleaner 7 with its bugs auto installs! I do not like the new interface, the fact that they took it upon themselves to REMOVE auto cleaning when closing web browser. Also “show tray icon” is turned ON, yet it does not show unless I open v7 and in settings, turn OFF tray icon, then turn back on! Not willing to do that every time I start my PC. They need to add the browser auto clean back and fix the tray icon bug. To make matters worse, received an email this morning, they are jacking up the renewal rate next month! What??? After forcing a new version that was not programmed by a pro or tested before release. I was not asked if I wanted the auto browser clean removed. They should make it an option as most who have used the product for years prefer that simple and effective function. Looks like the ship is going down with this new forced buggy release with LESS features and contusing functions (hard to find)
Hi @RTorella,
If you’d like to see this feature added to CCleaner 7 in the future, please submit your suggestion via the Ideas Portal, located in the left-hand menu of the application. This helps us gauge interest and prioritize enhancements based on user feedback.
Likewise. I’ve been using 6 Professsional Plus for years. Tried to do a clean yesterday and it’s now forcing me to download this new version 7 which doesn’t work. Screen just freezes and I have to physically turn off my PC to get out of it. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling and the same happens everytime. What a shambles! The livechat helpline also doesn’t respond. The query section is greyed out! No way to contact support that I can find. Definitely won’t be renewing if this is the customer support we’re paying for.
The other interesting part is after it upgrades to v7, cCleaner no longer appears in add remove programs. I have 3 other excellent uninstaller programs that remove all traces. Does not show on them as well! Makes me suspicious. I finally was able to get rid of version 7. Then went to my subscription and downloaded the last v6. The properties of the file were correct on the version number. However, when I double clicked the installer, guess what?? It installed v7 not the last v6 from my subscription page. Something funny going on here.
This is a dreadful mess. Very disappointed. Won’t even reply to my query on Support. I won’t be renewing my suscription.
RTorella, I too have used CC Pro for years (since 2015) and never had a problem with any previous version. But CrapCleaner v7 is a major bug bomb! It corrupted various system files that severely affected how various W10 components display.
I ran DISM in command prompt followed by scannow, but that didn’t repair or replace the corrupted system files. Finally, I uninstalled CC7 and ran a Restore Point to recover my PC. I am reverting to CC v6.39.
As you pointed out, the SALT on the wound is CC Inc increased the price AGAIN. My renewal price for 1 PC jumped to $39.99 in September. CC7 is not worth that price!
Be forewarned that it will force the re-install of v7! I uninstalled v7 and reinstalled v6. Went into settings, turned OFF auto update and suggestions, etc. Thought all was well until the 3rd time I clicked on the cCleaner 6 icon. It then auto installed the crappy version 7! Did this 3 times…..There is something wrong with your v7 price. My upcoming renewal in November is $70.03 for 2 years and 3PC’s. Check your renewal notice when received. In the meanwhile, I had to turn off most cleaning features to solve v7 from REMOVING startup items! Only problem now is the tray icon which is 50-50 if it appears in the right tray. If it doesn’t I have to open v7, settings, turn OFF show tray icon, the turn back on. I am guessing with this removal of auto clean and bugs, some bozo uneducated programmer scored brownie points.
I agree with your sentiment. I tried uninstalling CCleaner 7 and returning to version 6.22 (for which I had an executable) but that version automatically forced the version 7 ‘upgrade” on me.
6.22 is too old, anything over a year will auto update, use 6.39
I only know of Revo that’s good.. What other uninstallers are you using?
When you download v6.39 from the cCleaner site, it installs version 7
I think the problem is when it installed there is an error in the registry. I tried adding it manually to one uninstaller and it said it was still on the list. I use iObit Uninstaller, AVG TuneUp, Revo Uninstaller 5.4.3, Smarty Uninstaller. It does not show on any or the win 11 add remove programs. Has to be where-ever the installed programs are in the registry.
Thank you for the tip! CCleaner is back the way I like it. It’s fast and i can see what it’s doing.
I reinstalled v6 and it auto updated to v7, even though I have auto update turned off in the app settings. Did this 3 times.
For REALLY stubborn Uninstall problems, I use BCD Uninstaller. I tried to include a link, but this forum will not allow posting links for some reason. Google bcduninstaller.
How did you achieve this? Thank you
I uninstalled CCleaner. I DISCONNECTED FROM THE INTERNET. I installed v. 6.39 (ccsetup639.exe). I dismissed the “connect to the Internet” warning and continueed the installation. I got v. 6.39. I connected to the Internet. I ran CCleaner and got v. 6.39 wth no automatic update. Not yet anyway.
same here
that will only work for a short time, then it will auto update (force) version 7 on you. keep us posted after a few days of using v6
Yes, I discovered that shortly after I posted my premature “solution”. So, I disconnected from Internet. Uninstalled/reinstalled 6.39, and NOW – since I’m only doing cleanups at shutdown anyway and since I always disconnect from Internet as part of my shutdown routine anyway (this helps avoid ‘iffy’ startups next time, at least for my system), I now disconnect from Internet before running CCleaner 6.39 so it never gets the opportunity to update. (Necessary absurdity!) I’ll let you know if this continues to work.
