Thanks, I downloaded it and it is the only uninstaller showing ccleaner 7 on the list.
I learned a long time ago to disable auto-updates with CCleaner. I always wait a while. I updated to 6.39.11548 back in late September. Then I read elsewhere about the issues with version 7 and forced updates.
However, suddenly 6.39.11548 is acting flaky. It freezes upon launch and I have to force close it. I canât help wonder if there is something time-based within newer versions of CCleaner that will start to act-up if it canât call home.
Even if you download the last v6 installer, it will start installing the flaky 7. Even though when hovering over the file first which says v6.39
How to Roll Back from v7 to v6.39
Follow ALL of the instructions, particularly about turning off the Automatic Updating.
If you do not prevent the automatic updating it will just update itself to vCCleaner7 again.
In my case, with auto update OFF it installed v7 right in front of my eyes. cCleaner was not even open
Did you delete the âCCupdate.exeâ too? (It does tell you to do that in the rollback thread).
From what you say then it sounds like you didnât do that, and CCupdate, exe ran and updateted your CCleaner to 7 again.
I actually did not know about that at the time. Been running v7 for a month now. Only bug so far. sometimes icon not in the tray. If I open v7, settings, uncheck and recheck that option, it re-appears. So far, I have been fortunate in not having crazy things happen like others. v7 cleans ok and the software updater works part time. I even downloaded the last v6 installer from their site. File details clearly showed v6.39.XXXX. When I double clicked on it, v7 installed. To me that is trickery for them to fake the file id info!
