If you are having issues with CCleaner 7 then consider going back to v6.39: How to Roll Back from v7 to v6.39
Follow ALL of the instructions, particularly about turning off the Automatic Updating.
PS. The download links in that roll-back thread have been clicked on thousands of times in the past month - you are by no means alone.
I totally agree as well, I can’t find basic stuff like duplictae file finder AND when I go to help all the answers show the old menus and refer to the old versions so are of no help whatsoever!
I completely agree. The last two versions caused me BIG headaches by removing stuff i needed to keep. Some I could restore from backups, most I could not. Just deleted version 7 and will not be using, or recommending Ccleaner any more. That’s a shame, becuase i had relies on this program for years, and recommended it to MANY people. No more!
By making it so “easy to use” and so “intuitive” Piro made it “USELESS” and “DANGEROUS.” They should rein in their engineers, and make it possible for people who know what they’re doing to use it with MANUAL SETTINGS, instead of the extremely dangerous automatic destruction of data.
Agreed. I’ve used and recommended CCleaner for many, many, many years. Unfortunately, that all ends with V7. Being in the software/hardware/IT biz for 35+ years, I have to say this new version smells a lot like it was rushed to market without adequate real world user feedback. I will stick with V6 as long as possible and will not be renewing my subscription and will recommend the literal hundreds of people that I endorsed this product to do the same.
The new user interface in CCleaner 7 is significantly worse and less clear than in previous versions. It may look more modern, but it is difficult to use and extremely confusing. Why “innovate” and ruin things that work?
I’ve tried this on both of my laptops, and each time I launch CCleaner, it starts upgrading to CCleaner 7 without my permission. So, I can’t stop this nonsense and will be looking for an alternative cleaner. But, I’ve already paid for a year’s subscription. So I’m angry.
It’s sad that companies are just out to scam people. No one will ever be able to convince me that Piriform didn’t know what they were doing when they made CCleaner 7. For whatever reason, it is purposely awful. Look at Windows 11. It’s bad too. So many useful features were removed, it’s unreal.
I’m veering off topic for a second but I’ve never understood this arguement i have basically the same interface I’ve used since XP, yeah things look a little different , but once setup there is no difference (to me) XP-11.
maybe because i always go pro not “home” versions.
I had relied on CCleaner for years too. It was a great product. Luckily, I was able to revert back to a 6.39 version. But just the idea that a tech company would do this and release a product so bad, gives me sour thoughts and decreases my confidence in their ethics and integrity.
And what about people that aren’t tech savvy and don’t know how to revert to v6.39 or are not quite sure of how to do it? Some will forget to turn off the automatic update , since the automatic updating is turned on by default, then they’ll be stuck with version 7 again and wonder what happened.
This is what we forum watchers are already seeing happen over and over in new threads and me toos. I wish the developers took more time here and not just in the background.
