Proof that looks certainly aren’t everything. I thought version 7 looked nice too. But that lasted about 30 minutes before I uninstalled it and reverted back to an earlier version. Wow. Piriform really messes up this time. Maybe the problem is they sold out to Avast. Didn’t they?
and then to Norton owner Gen Digital (who i believe also owns AVG so three big name antivirus and ccleaner under one umbrella)
I forgot last time or didn’t check properly, that I had automatic renewal turned on.
Thanks for the answer. Well, i’m not going to use CCleaner anymore, I have other alternatives. I installed mostly CCleaner cause of managing startup programs when win starts, but I’m also familiar how to do this manually (msconfig) or with other apps. Cheers
Well I made turning off automatic updating as clear as I can in instructions 4 & 5 of the rollback thread, putting it in bold and adding screenshots of what to do.
I even emphasise it when giving a link, like this:

Follow ALL of the instructions, particularly about turning off the Automatic Updating and deleting ‘CCupdate.exe’.
Unfortunately we forum requlars have found over the years that you can put clear instructions of how to do something, but people will still either not read them, think they are not needed (yes they are that’s why we put them there), or simply ignore them.

Same here. BIG disappointment. This version 7 is a program I would never buy !
I suspect too many VPs trying to justify their jobs. I was a 10 yr subscriber. No more. I am gone.
I just tried CCleaner 7 and HATE IT. I really miss the origina CCleaner. Very basic but did the job. Then came driver updater, software updater etc. I already have built in programs from HP that do that. I just want to clean up my cache and registry when needed. This is heavily bloated and has gotten to big for the average home user. I thought Pro was for the high tech people and now basic CCleaner is just a mini version of that. I’m going to roll back but even the 6 version is more than I want and the constant pop up sking me to upgrade to Pro is has gotten even more annoying if that was even possible. Any ideas on another good software that will clean the cache and registry only? I need them to keep their tentacles out of my files.
I have just removed this crop from my laptop - ccleaner 7 wants to be put on my PC, i keep getting the update pop up - there is no way this crap is being put on my PC, its not done enything to deserve such direspect
