CCleaner 7 asking to install daily

I installed CCleaner 7 to my Lenovo laptop running Windows 11 home, version 25H2

The next day, a CCleaner window popped up asking me to install CCleaner 7
Thinking I had maybe interrupted the initial install, I installed (again). It definitely installed and I ran through all the steps, cleaning my laptop and updating programs, etc
Today, it once more popped up asking me to install CCleaner 7

What’s going on here? How can I stop this daily pop up asking me to install? Not getting update messages, the program is asking me to install on a daily basis.

Me too. I have Pro 6.9 and I thought it was upgrading. but now it says 7.0 free and keeps on wanting to install every time I turn on the computer. Help.

Today it allowed me to add the lic. code. Last several days it did not. Maybe it is better now. I’ll see tomorrow.

My code auto populated on my 2nd download, but it continued to tell me to download every time I open the program.
Be interested to see if yours does the same thing.
Wonder why CCleaner don’t respond to this issue?

CCleaner 7 doesn’t say either ‘Free’ or ‘Professional’ at the top, it just says ‘CCleaner’.

You have to go to Settings > My Subscription to see if has been activated as Professional or not:

Hi, could you capture/post a screenshot of the popup for us to see?

The staff aren’t answering much here (again) and so it’s just us users trying to work out what’s happening and help one another if we can.

If you have Windows 11, use Snip and Sketch. Open it, then get what you want to capture on the screen. Open Snip and Sketch and click on NEW upper left, then camera on toolbar that opens.. The use mouse to draw a square around the target. Once you see it on the Snip and Sketch window, click 3 dots upper right corner and save to desktop. It will be called screenshot and numbers. Go to the post and find attach icon, point it to the desktop screenshot jpg and attach. Then post and it will show. I use it daily so I went to programs in start menu and clicked on show on taskbar so it is always there

I’m getting the same pop up several times a day. I have version 7 installed and it pops up wanting me to install version 7. I have auto update turned off and it still pops up. It’s like a virus.

Screen captures attached of pop-up, update screen showing my version, and my Pro license screen.

Correction: I can only attach one image… I’ll post two more replies if the system lets me.

Yes, this is what I get daily too. Thanks for capturing the screenshot.

A post was split to a new topic: CCleaner 7 opens but won’t do anything

Thanks for the screenshots.

Best I can think of for now is that “something?” is periodically launching an unwanted installer for some reason.
Maybe a flag or registry entry has got stuck saying an update is available/needed/pending?

More specifically it looks to me like something is launching the ‘online’ installer.

I’d check your OS drive for copies of either/both of the installers:
image
and delete any and all copies of those two installers that you find.
If CCleaner7 is already installed then you don’t need the installer anymore.

Restart your machine.

If you still get the pop-ups after that then check if one of those files has somehow come back.

PS. That isn’t really curing the bug, it’s just stopping it from manifesting itself.
ie. Hiding it rather than fixing it.

Yes, this is what I get daily too.
What can we do please?

Thank you for your explanation!

I have no such a files as ccsetup_offline_setap.exe on my machine.
What can we do please?

Appreciate your efforts, don’t have those files and still getting the daily pop up to install.
Ridiculous that CCleaner is happy to take money but not prepared to provide support

So it doesn’t appear to be something runing an installer on your machines, but something calling one from a server.

My next suggestion is:

Make a note of your licence key if you have one.
Uninstall CCleaner7
“Restart” (not Shutdown) your computer.
Download an installer from here: CCleaner Builds
Note
If you want CCleaner7 use the ‘Standard’ installer.
Double click the downloaded installer to install a fresh CCleaner7.
Go to Settings > My Subscription to enter your key if you have one.

Has that done the trick?

Thank you for the suggestion. I followed your instructions, entered my key and ran 1st scan. Updated all programs and drivers. I’ll let you know if the pop ups continue or if this is the solution we were looking for.

Okay… good news, no pop ups today asking me to install again.
Bad news… no way to start a scan now. No matter how often I click “Scan now”, absolutely nothing happens.
On “my subscriptions” tab it states that it cannot load details of my ccleaner subscription. I’ll add screenshots
