CCleaner 7 opens but won't do anything

On my HP pc with Windows 11 , I can use CCleaner 7 only once just after I have installed it.

Te next time i receive only the basic window below . Via “setttings” I cannot even acces my subscription data. I never had problems with the previous version.

The only option for me to use it is removing and reinstalling the CCleaner 7 every time.

Hi @G.Hofmans
I have moved your question to it’s own thread, yours is a different issue from the one where you posted it.

We have seen your problem before and the lack of menu items is the clue.
It happens because for some reason during the install the CCleaner7 service has not been set to run automatically.

To fix it:

  • Open Windows Services. (Open the start menu and type Services).
  • Scroll to find the CCcleaner7 service, right click it and select ‘Properties’.
  • On the General tab change the ‘Startup type’ to “Automatic”.
  • Click ‘Apply’, Click ‘OK’
  • Close the Services.
  • Restart your computer.

CCleaner7 should now have the full menu everytime that you open it.

When I open “services” it states that CCleaner is set to automatic, but when I open it I get the short menu that does not do anything. Screenshot below.

it’s automatic but stopped, if you start it it will show the whole set of menus. but sounds like something (anti malware maybe) stopped the service. if you reboot the computer log in and check services did it start? if not, maybe change it to automatic delayed start and reboot and login and wait to use CCleaner about 5min does the service start.

note these are troubleshooting steps from a user. i am not an employee, just a user.

Did you Restart your computer like the instructions told you to do?

The Restart is what ‘Automatically’ starts the Service running.
(I instructed to do it that way as a check that you had correctly set it).

You could also have started it manually from that General tab - but that does not check that you had correctly set the Automatic Startup.

I did not. I assumed shutting down later that evening would qualify as a restart. This time around I followed the instructions and restarted immediately… and it seems to have worked. I also used the “automatic delayed start” suggested by @Nergal
Thank you both very much for your help, it has been working as it should for two days now.
I will still seek an alternative once my subscription ends. If CCleaner can’t be bothered helping customers, I can’t be bothered being a customer.
