I subscribe to CCCleaner Professional Plus. For some weeks now CCCleaner 7 downloads itself on to my PC and deletes CC Cleaner Plus. What’s going on?
CCleaner 7 is the latest version and has been since October 2025.
Like previous versions it is either Free and Professional depending on if you have purchased/activated a licence key or not.
And yes, it is quite a change from previous CCleaner versions.*
‘Professional Plus’ is not a different version, it’s just a licence that allows you to use CCleaner Professional, and other Piriform software, on up to 3-devices.
*It is possible to roll back to v6.39/v6.40 if you want to and prevent it from updating to CCleaner 7 again.
However note that those versions are deprecated and will not be kept up to date, so as browsers etc. change they will become less able to clean them. Other functions such as software and driver updaters may stop working in v6.##.
If you still want to roll back then follow ALL of the instructions here carefully. (If you don’t follow them ALL then CC7 will just reinstall and overwrite it again).
Many thanks for your advice. If I understand correctly I should use CC7 on my single PC and ignore future requests for payment
If you are only using one-device then, yes, paying for a Pro Plus licence for 3-devices is overkill.
You may want to cancel that Pro Plus subscription renewal, and then when it expires purchase a new single device CCleaner Professional subscription (with a new licence key), instead.
