  1. Quintas, it's easier for all if we stick to one thread.

Drive Wiper will overwrite deleted file names in the MFT with a combination of ZZ.ZZZ's. None of these should show a preview.

    Is Show Non-Deleted Files unchecked?

If you run Drive Wiper and can still see previews then post an uncropped snapshot of Recuva in Advanced Mode.

Thanks Augeas. I will try tonight. One last question, when you say is "Show Non-Deleted Files"  unchecked,  do you mean it has to be checked for the process to work properly?

  2. Your question is unanswerable. You say 'Can or can't', group CC and Recuva together, and expect an answer of 'Yes or no', which defies any reasoning.

The question has not actually been asked in this thread, just the reason why Recuva can't overwrite a file name when CC can, and that has been answered in post 2 onwards. To sum up what the OP stated, CCleaner secure file deletion will overwrite the contents of the MFT file record; Recuva Secure Overwrite will not overwrite the contents of the MFT file record.

So if one tried to answer your question it would have been Yes, and No,

Augeas, i went into CC's settings and checked off "secure file deletion", "MFT', "alternate data streams" and "cluster tips" then ran it. But afterwards when I run a Recuva scan the jpg's still show up in the right hand pane

Im going to try "Drive Wiper' tonight and see what happens.

  3. I realize this is an old post but I would like to chime in here with a similar probem. I just cannot permanently delete my MFT jpg images using CC / Recuva. I've tried CC Wipe Free Space with MFT checked but the jpg's

still show up on the right pane with a standard Recuva scan.  I'm going to try Drive Wiper because some of you have said MFT is wiped automaticlly with that process. I'm not very optimistic though because from what I've been reading lately there seems to be no program out there that will effecetively delete MFT jpg's. Am I wrong?  Unless a program has been developed since that will do the job.

  4. I can tell you from experience that CCLeaner's Wipe Free Space  + MFT did not work for me.  I tried that. "They will be back".

I have the same exact problem with my jpg files refusing to be deleteted and Recuva finding them again. I'm still looking for a solution.

If anyone comes up with another suggestion I would be happy to hear it

  5. This is very frustrating and I'm hoping someone can help me.

The  "Secure Overwrite Highlighted"  and "Secure Overwrite Checked"  are lightly shadowed and not responsive for any of my jpg files. Those options seem to be inactive for all my jpg's. so I cannot delete them

I've read that this could be related to them being in the mft file. Is there any other way using Recuva or any another program to get rid of them?

I've tried Cccleaner and have cleaned all the free space with mft checked off but they're still there after a Recuva scan. I'm wondering if a defrag would do it.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks
