    it deletes the thumbcache_????.db files where ???? will vary depending on the thumbnail cache in question.

    if you aren't seeing any to clean, maybe you either have Always show icons, never thumbnails in Windows Explorer, or you aren't doing whatever generates them.

    OR

    this site, https://www.raymond.cc/blog/what-you-should-know-about-thumbsdb-file/ reports sometimes CC doesn't do the job, not that I've experienced this first hand.

    hi

    thanks for the answer

    i found this https://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/ccleaner-rules/windows-tab/windows-explorer-files

    Thumbnail Cache - This option clears the Windows Explorer image thumbnail cache, which is maintained to speed up the browsing of folders containing photos and images. But it will also contain the thumbnails of images that are no longer on the system. (This rule is for Window Vista only.)

    but i don't know if it's related to older version of ccleaner

    Mta did you test it ? i mean does it delete thumbcache located here C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer

    i'm running ccleaner last version under w8.1 64 and w7 sp1 64

    thanks a lot

    this is what inside winapp2.ini related to cleaning automaticdestination folder

    you can use this entry inside your winsys2.ini or you can go to winapp2.ini thread which will provide more cleaning option but with additional risk

    go here http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=32310

    please read the spoiler before using winapp2.ini

    [Recent Items More*]
    LangSecRef=3025
    DetectFile=%AppData%\Microsoft\windows\recent\customdestinations
    Default=False
    Warning=Running this will remove task lists from the start menu (the expandable triangle next to some applications)
    FileKey1=%AppData%\Microsoft\windows\recent\automaticdestinations|*.*|RECURSE
    FileKey2=%AppData%\Microsoft\windows\recent\customdestinations|*.*|RECURSE

    hi to all!!

    can someone help me to create an entry in Winsys2.ini to delete the files inside

    c:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations\

    i added this to Winsys2.ini but it doesn't delete the files

    [Explorer recenti]
    LangSecRef=3003
    DetectFile=C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe
    Default=True
    filekey1=C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations|*.*

    maybe  because these files have no extensions

    and may i ask 2 questions?

    1)

    can i add in Winsys2.ini an entry to delete the files inside

    c:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations\

    2) can ccleaner using the ini files, delete files without extensions?

    i'm talking about Winsys2.ini or other ini elaborate by ccleaner

    thanks

    best regards
