aha ......... like I said, changing the installed version makes zero difference.
The correct registry value is set to skip UAC,CCleaner simply ignores this.
Running at boot time fails beacuse the UAC is now called.

Oh well .......... Piriform obviously don't care , CCleaner was the best application of this type, but that is no longer the case. Comments here and around the net prove this program is just not what it was.
As it won't run correctly or obey the setttings applied, the only choice is to delete it from the system.
CCleaner uninstalled and replaced.

Starting yesterday, CCleaner ignores the "Skip User Account Control " setting.
I tried changing all settings to default. Then unistalled CCleaner and made a fresh install of the latest version, but the problem persists.
Have used CC for many years, never seen a problem before, haven't changed anything, or added anything new to system.
Win8.1 64Bit, Acer laptop, avast9 Pro, Malwarebytes Pro,
Skip User Account Control ignored

?? That would suggest CCleaner is not compatible with Windows 8 ........ and has not been required fro the app to run previously.
Have tried deleting the task, and making a clean install .......... does not work.
Looking at the task properties, CCleaner fails to load the task, there are several error/failure codes.
