I've only got a basic computer knowledge compared to other forum users from what I can see, so perhaps this is a stupid question! But ...
Defraggler's analysis says I have the following:
48,399 fragmented files (11.5GB)
169,212 total fragments
4% fragmentation
I've got a 300GB HD, 2.2Ghz T4400 processor and 4GB RAM.
I've had it running for a day and it's still going and not making much progress. Having looked at old threads re slow defrag time I disabled system restore and unchecked the Move large files option. But it's still suggesting > 1 day defrag. Vast majority are small files, maybe 20 > 100Mb-1GB, though a fair few smaller files have hundreds of fragments. just selecting those under 50MB doesn't seem to make a difference.
As I've only defragged once in last two years (yes, I know) should I just accept that it's a huge job first time round?
If anyone can help clarify my situation that would be great,
Beginner's question: how long should defrag take?
