  1. These do NOT work on XP.

    I note that both the links refer to queries raised in mid 2008 and only cited XP paths, i.e.

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ and not

    %ProgramData%

    XP by default does NOT understand %ProgramData%,

    neither does it understand %LocalAppdata%

    Somehow CCleaner under XP DOES understand %LocalAppdata%

    but it still does NOT understand %ProgramData%

    The code suggested failed to work until I launched CCLEANER via a batch file which included the code

    SET ProgramData=C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\
    CCLEANER

    NB The BAT script is in the same folder as CCleaner.exe and WinApp2.ini

    That found and removed 60+ MB of two Apple installers that have been lurking since 2008.

    Alan

    You're right!

    I forgot to say that tested only in Vista... sorry!

    For instance, sometimes the Apple Installer will keep files there for ages (in my case, since Safari launched 3.x version)

    It can help users freeing some bits, at least once.

    Thanks for corrections! Is it possible to be added to Winapp2.ini file?

    Chrs,

  2. I was manually deleting some files and find about 700Mb(!) of temporary installation files.

    When updating Apple Software, every installation packet is temporary cached.

    These temporary installation packets will remain there undefinedly... and according with Apple's support, they're safe to delete!

    CCleaner .ini suggestion:

    [Apple Installer Cache]
    LangSecRef=3021
    DetectFile1=%ProgramData%\Apple\Installer Cache
    DetectFile2=%ProgramData%\Apple Computer\Installer Cache
    Default=False
    FileKey1=%ProgramData%\Apple\Installer Cache|*.*|RECURSE
    FileKey2=%ProgramData%\Apple Computer\Installer Cache|*.*|RECURSE
