  1. So those files were not left from before or created after I "low level formatted" the drive but after that, when I initialised and formatted the drive (NTFS)? Therefore, it's not old data from the drive that is seen in Recuva pic in the first post, but new files that were created afterwards, with the formatting (NTFS)? Thank you.

  2. Hi!

Since I updated CCleaner to v3.13.1600 I have new lines added in the Startup section (inside the red circle):

    cc.jpg

I tihnk that these lines belong to Classic Shell that I use in Windows 7. Or is there somethign I should worry about? And - is it possible to hide them or move them in some other category?

    Thank you!

  3. I recommend you stay with the default settings unless you are sure you know what an item will do. Right click each category and select 'Restore default state' in the context menu.

If you use Microsoft Office, an item I personally don't like "out of the box" is Cleaner > Applications > Office 2003 . It clears a number of preference settings in Word.

Index.dat files regenerate as blank files at each boot.

I restored all the settings to default.

I use MS Office, but I don't really understand what you are telling me. What sould I un-check?

    Thank you yet again! :)

  4. Deselect Cleaner > Windows > Advanced > Window Size/Location Cache

Thank you, that was it! :)

What do you think, should I un-check some more boxes or it's allright to have them all checked?

And another question: I just cleaned everything and then reboot the PC. Imediatelly after the start-up I checked CCleaner and it showed that:

    reboot.jpg

Do you know, why IE already has some Index.dat files - right after the reboot of the PC?

    Thank you again! :)

  5. Hello!

When I'm using the "Cleaner" part of CCleaner I have everything checked except "Wipe Free Space" and that works allright with me, except for one thing. When I run it, it changes the icons in Windows Explorer from small to big (I guess that it deletes my custom settings in Windows Explorer). So, which box should I un-check to make CCleaner leave these icon settings as they were before? (I'm have Windows XP.)

    Thank you! :)

  6. Absolutely no idea why it happened to be honest :)

Glad the little fix worked for you.

Welcome to the forum by the way :)

Thank you. CCleaner is a great application, but I'll pass the wiping next time. :D

  7. Hello!

I love CCleaner and use it for two years now, but today I tried the Wipe Free Space function for the first time, and now, after reboot, all my icons are changed/gone (on the desktop, in explorer...). That's how it is now:

How did that happen? How can I repair this? Thank you!

    -------

EDIT: I manually changed most of the icons to previous, normal look. But I can't change the Windows Explorer, it's like it's missing or something... And some others too (My Computer etc.). Please help!
