  1. I too upgraded a system from XP to Windows 7.

I'm yet to be convinced that CCleaners installer or cleanup works 'great', primarily due to the permissions changes within the Windows Registry and the drastic changes made to the hard/soft link 'shortcuts' in Win7.

post-26058-1232373983_thumb.jpgYes, I've chosen to reinstate Quick Launch ^^.

To install CCleaner to run or open from the Recycle bin or to ensure that it cleans the IE temporary internet files, see my post in http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=19839

We must all remember that Win7 is still in Beta and there may be many changes before it goes on full release.

  2. From the first reply this was heading way OT ... apologies to the OP.

why are you gonna beta test a sofware that is NOT A BETA in a OS that is known as unsupported!!! that is just take the risk and there you have some of the consequences...

maybe this is more like a learning for the piriform dev team that they should do a checking before installing the software to know if the OS is compatible or not to avoid things like this... I already know that this kind of things aren't so frecuent but happens :P

It's the OS that is beta, ok? To test application compatibility in a beta OS, you need to install and test the programs that you normally use. If they work or they can be tweaked to work, then fine. If they won't install or run, then the OS and App developers have a chance to work to get things working smoothly.

Until the software has been tested on the OS, you don't know if it's incompatible or not.

If you check the link I posted earlier, you'll see that this problem has been happening since before Vista was released and may not be related to CCleaner.

  3. Hi all, first a fix for the Recycle Bin issue.

    From http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums...84-0a00e4ff0da5

Open Regeditand drill down to [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\Shell\]. Right-click the Shell 'folder' and click Permissions. Change the permissions for Administrators to FULL CONTROL. Install CCleaner*, then go back into the registry and reset the permissions on this same key back to READ.

*If CC is already installed, change the Options to add Open and/or Run to the Recycle Bin menu.

If you find, as I did, that IE Temporary Internet files are not being cleaned, add C:\Users\*UserName*\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files to CC's Custom Files and Folders. Options > Include > Add Folder.
