1. Hey E1,

Is there seriously no one that has a clue as to this problem? Nearly 50 ppl have read my post and no responses from any1....'cept myself! LOL.

    Thx,

    David

    UCan Dream;

You seem to forget, there are some of us (yes, like me) that aren't to much brighter than the proverbial "fence Post", so I will do you the GREAT service of not giving poor advice.

I just wanted to let you that we are out here and watching...I'm just not qualified to prove an answer that won't make things worse! :o

  2. Okay, before doing anything else please navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies], do not expand it just export it then copy/paste the results in your reply. I think you'll have better luck this time :).

One more try! I have DSL and with the rains we have a lot of static on the voice portion of the line and the DSL seems a little slow...as a matter of fact, the Broadband light on the router is flashing...UGH. So, my responses might be spotty!

    Well here goes anyway...

    policies.reg
3. Well, there must be something really wrong with my system. I tried Filefactory 8 10 times and it never completed! I then tried a Word document (33K) and got: Uploading. 33 KB of 33 KB done; Calculating time remaining. But it never completed.

I hate to say it, but I MUST surrender!

Thank you for you attempts to help. :(

I know I said I had surrendered, BUT I thougt you find this interesting. After all the attempts to uploading via Filefactory I sent them a trouble report. Well, they just sent me an email telling me that the problem was fixed and it should work now!!!!

I tried it and got the link to the file just like Haselnut said I would. I haven't tried it, but here it is

    http://www.filefactory.com/file/7abc0c/n/c...;class_root.txt

I wish there was an emoticon for "over the Moon" because I would use it!

  4. Thanks Hazelnut!

I am redoing it and will try again!

  5. You do not need to give an email address that is optional.

When it is finished it will give you a link to copy and paste here on forum and then krit can download it and have a look.

    Thanks Hazelnut!

I am redoing it and will try again!

  6. Okay, hazelnut sent me this link http://www.filefactory.com/ and it does say that you can upload "any" file type.

Filefactory is uploading the file, it thinks it will take about 10 min. It wants an email address for me to send it to. If I had an email address to sent it to I could have done that a long time ago

It seems that the file is 23 meg...seems very big, but that is probably why I couldn't upload it.

  7. You cannot paste the notepad file? Try saving it to your computer, then open and paste.

Here is a notepad version of the file....the notepad version didn't work either. They both show "Uploading File" but never finish.

  8. Sorry, I didn't see your post above mine.

The entries not merging only belong to the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT section of the registry. Could you please navigate to [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\regedit] > right-click and select export > save the file to your desktop > right-click the file on desktop > select 'edit' > then copy and paste the file in your reply. Also, do the same for [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\regfile].

You can check your permissions settings for regedit and regfile by looking at this picture.

    t2475_regeditregfiles.jpg

Last, but not least....I'm interested in the following entries that are showing in your Event Viewer.

Error 12/17/2008 10:18:27 AM MsiInstaller None 11706 Dxxx xxxxxx PC191762682119

Warning 12/17/2008 10:17:08 AM MsiInstaller None 1001 Dxxx xxxxxx PC191762682119

Warning 12/17/2008 10:17:08 AM MsiInstaller None 1004 Dxxx xxxxxx PC191762682119

    Error 12/14/2008 8:12:03 PM Application Error None 1000 N/A PC191762682119

Please double-click each item listed above one at a time. After double-clicking a little box will open. It the bottom corner you will see what looks like 2 pieces of paper overlapping each other, press on the picture and press CTRL+V in your response.

Your Event Viewer is showing repeated MsiInstaller and Networking errors. Are you having any other problems? I'm curious because your network could contain Group Policies that are interfering with your ability to modify the indicated section of the registry.

Thanks for your patience. Hope all is going well.

    K~

I can not paste the file you wanted me to send, so I will attach it for you. BTW, the Upload never stopped so I am sending the message anyway

  9. Wow, you're quick. :)

Okay, maybe a bit off topic this will do you lots of good. UserHive Cleanup Service

I need to finish sorting the Applications file then I'll post back for a little more info regarding some items. Are trying the 2 methods previously posted?

Thanks for the help. As I said, I tried the first method and it still didn't let me load the restore of the CCleaner reg file.

I am in California and will be off the air for a while, but will get back later just in case you have any suggestions.

  10. Thank you, now please edit your post and remove your attached files.

I tried Method 1. I found the file on Doug's site and it seems to have taken fine when I imported it.

I then rebooted and tried the restore; it still didn't work.

  11. Well if you want to give up I understand. Sometimes trying to fix computer problems is a huge headache. But if you don't mind hanging in there a bit longer I would really appreciate you helping me troubleshoot this problem. I did some searching and this seems to be a common problem so your assistance in solving the issue would be helpful to a lot of people.

I need some more information for more solutions.

If you could please click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer

    * Now click on 'Applications' in the Left Box > View > Filter > uncheck everything except for 'Warning', and 'Error > click 'Apply' then 'OK'.

    * Now click on 'Action (at the top) > Export List > Save As 'Applications'.

    * Now click on 'System' in the Left Box and follow the instructions above and name the file 'System'.

Once the files are saved please upload the files in your next post. Look at the bottom of your screen when replying...there is an upload option. Depending on the size of the files you may need to upload each file in a separate reply.

Now, here is what I have come up with so far on the topic...but I'm not sure if it will help you although I hope it will.

    For Windows XP ONLY

NOTE: If you receive an error that reads something similar to ?Not all data was successfully

written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes" use Method 2.

    Method 1:

    1. Save REG File Association Fix to Desktop. Download Here

    2. Extract the file to your desktop.

    3. Go to Start > Run > type ?Regedit?

    4. In the Registry Editor, go to File > Import, browse the regfile on the desktop that you just extracted, highlight, and hit 'Open'.

    5. Reboot

    6. Now double-click the CCleaner registry back-up, or right-click and select merge.

Method 2: Import the Regfile in SafeMode

? Turn on, or Reboot the computer.

? Start tapping the F8 key repeatedly.

? When the boot option screen appears select ?Safe Mode?.

? Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.

? Merge the regfile by double-clicking the file, or right-click and select merge.

    ? Reboot normally.

If either of these methods work for you please let us know. :D Good Luck!

Per your request, here are the files I created.

  12. Can you copy and paste the file that you are trying to import?

    > Right click the file

    > Choose 'open with'

    > Browse and select 'Notepad'

    Once the file is open

    > press CTRL+A

    > then press CTRL+C

    > in your reply here press CTRL+V

EDIT: I ask this so that we can look at the keys being merged to confirm whether or not they are showing the correct Registry Version.

Sorry for the long delay, I had kind of given up. Here is the file I was trying to restore from

  13. Yes, computers are can be frustrating at times.

But I would suggest accepting additional help in determining why you can't import your .reg file because whatever the problem may be could cause additional problems in the future.

Also, was this your first time using CCleaner?

Yes, and basically I really like it and will run the normal cleaner process frequently.

I do agree that I should reslove the accessing error, but am stumped!

  14. does this happen when you turn on the computer? If so, open CCleaner > click Tools > click Startup then take a screen shot an post it in this thread.

Maybe Andavari will know why the .reg file isn't merging. It doesn't make sense because the Registry versions should be the same.

You have been VERY helpful and VERY kind, I really appreciate your time and effort.

I don't know why I cannot restore the Regisrty file and am giving up :(

I did find out that PhotoGallery is an HP program and was part of my HP C6150 printer. I found the installation CD and the installation process found the CD and seemed to load something. I have yet to restart the machine again (just too frustrated!!!) but I think it should be okay.

Once again you have been too kind AND I probably won't be running the Registry Integrety process again.

  15. No worries, just let it do it's thing. ;)

Well, no luck. Dial-a-fix finished and I restarted the system. I still get the same Error message that thier was an error accessing the registry.

The only reason for doing this is that the system brings up a box asking for a disk with an installation file for something called PhotoGallery (PhotoGallery.msi) I can" find the file or start up to find out why this is happening. Would I dare run the CCleaner Registry Integrety process again????

  16. It might be faster just to repair your permissions and see if that works first.

    Download DAF.

Once you extract the Dial-a-fix archive, double click on Dial-a-fix.exe, click Tools, click Repair Permissions, and click GO.

Reboot, and try to merge the .reg file again.

I am trying it and will reportback after I complete the process. It has been analyzing the permission differences ( 1/2) for a little while.

  17. I am a new user and just tried my first Registry restore. I tried both methods recommended (Right click on the backup file and Regedit Import) and they both failed with the same error... "Error accessing the registry" I have never done this before, so don't know if it is a new or old problem.

The reason for doing the restore is that after cleaning the issues (this was the second time I cleaned my machine) I now get s box telling me that the system is trying to load Photo Gallery and needs disk 1. I can't find Photo Gallery anywhere on my machine!

I am running XP Professional 2002, Service pack 2 if that helps. I am the only user on the system and THINK I have Admin rights.
