[problem w CCleaner version 2.32 1165 on Windows 7 64 bit]

Ran Ccleaner on Windows 7 64 bit Toshiba laptop. All win 7 patches are installed. Have latest CCleaner. After rebooting laptop Ccleaner would flash a Dos like box quickly and it would not launch the program. I then uninstalled and reinstalled CCleaner on this 64 bit laptop and changed the setting in CCleaner to save settings to INI file.

Program worked fine until I rebooted. Still disappeared after clicking it. I tried various settings with UAC on/off. Only other resident program is Avira Anti-virus.

 

So then I decided to change the compatibility of CCleaner on Win 7 to XP and now it seems to be working fine.

 

Any ideas??

 

Did not have this issue on vista but that was a 32 bit verison of Vista.

I was just browsing the forums and came across your post. FWIW I've been running CCleaner (latest) on a 5 mo old Win7x64 HP Pavilion, UAC is set to "Always Notify" and have not encountered any problems like you describe. I got my copy from FileHippo's site. No problems running CCleaner at all during this time on my 64bit setup. Maybe you had a bad download or bad install. If you haven't tried it, maybe a mere uninstall/reinstall would resolve this?

I've been using this program for several years now and just LOVE it. It tells you soooooooo much information about your hardware and software, in just a few clicks! Takes me forever to hunt and peck and get at that kind of information in Windows.

[How old are you]

57 and counting. Learning as much as I can about today's computers and Windows XP on forums like this. Just got a PC and on the internet in January. What a learning curve! The 10 year computing hiatus has made it difficult. I still remember Windows 3.1 and 3 1/4" floppy disks! Will get the hang of these CD's eventually.
