CCleaner 2.06.567 always prevented from auto running at Vista startup by Windows Defender.
Open Defender, and unable to classify CCleaner as being 'permitted' to run at Vista startup.
Initiate scan manually and CCleaner works fine.
Have notice from threads that this Problem goes back April 2007.?
Any solutions are appreciated

Welcome to the forums!
Did you download this version of the VB Runtime Files. Also since using Win98 you should probably restart the computer after installing the VB Runtime Files. There's a few more tips here when CCleaner won't install.
If none of the above helps try this:
1. Empty your browser cache ("Temporary Internet Files") using it's own built-in cleaning area.
2. Restart Windows. (Perhaps unnecessary, it's just a precaution).
3. Download the CCleaner setup file again, and try to install.
Thanks for your help Andavari.
Yes, I had installed the same VB as the File Name/Version/and Date all matched.
Following your suggestions, I emptied IE browser Cache, cleared all Cookies, disabled AVG from the StartUp group, downloaded CC from your link provided and then rebooted.
I then re-installed VB again immediately followed by installing CC.
Everything installed perfectly and is now working fine.
Thanks again!

Installing CCleaner 1.40 on system with Windows 98SE,
The Error Message during CC Installation appears: "Could not Find VB6 Runtime Files. To download these files from Microsoft click here."
I have successfully downloaded and installed these VB6 files into a new Folder, C: "VB6".
Running CC Installation again and the same error as above appears and can not continue.
Help is appreciated, thank you!

FINALLY!...Here is the solution.

Download and run the English program.
It will resolve this issue for CCleaner and any other programs that are also not Windows Defender and Vista friendly.
