( Windows cannot find “C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\program\soffice.exe”. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. )
( i tried to upload image, forum said not allowed i tried to add link same thing )
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe - ( steam gives no error it simply doesn’t launch )
C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\program\soffice.exe - ( if “Reactivator” files are NOT deleted libre office launches normal and if i drag and drop a file it opens it BUT if i click on a writer/word or calc/excell file to open then i get hundreds of “CCleanerReactivator.exe” and writer processes in task manager + RAM usage for “C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI\MSI Center\Mystic Light\LEDKeeper2.exe” goes from 13mb to 600mb+ )
Windows 11 24H2 Pro, latest updates latest app versions, tried reinstall, registry clean etc… i uploaded activator files to virus total ALL CLEAN system scanned multiple times also clean, interestingly all .exe start with an “S”
You deleting files which are needed by CCleaner is NOT A BUG- It’s a deliberate user action which will prevent things working correctly.
Why are you deleting the reactivator exe and dll?
For your information the Reactivaor wakes up (reactivates) files that you have put to sleep with Performance Optmiser.
Without it then any app that you have put to sleep with PO will not be able to wake up again.
So when you then try to use a ‘sleeping’ app it will not ‘wake up’ to run - as you have found.
I suggest that you stop messing about with files when you (obviously) don’t know what they do.
The files in the CCleaner directory are there for a reason, if you have deleted some then you should put them back.
If you start deleting any apps files them then you can/will start to see strange things happen. That isn’t a bug, it’s a user messing about with things that they don’t understand so should leave alone.
thanks for pointing me in the direction of activator being part of performance/sleep optimization
i use CCleaner ONLY for cleaning and checking for software updates all 10 apps that are recognized out of 60+, all other bloatware and services are disabled, if cc is not running there is 0 preprocesses in task manager, i also rename activator because then CC starts faster and there is one less menu on the left side
i found workaround for this bug ( for people who seek less bloat )
i enabled “CCleaner Performance Optimizer Service” woke up all apps, disabled service then renamed activator and now all apps run as they should
Hello
I’m an IT, one of my clients bought the ccleaner PRO version and almost every day it was updating a VPN app that CANNOT be updated, because it stops working.
Tired of it calling me every day I disabled all ccleaner tasks in the task scheduler and windows startup items… Now almost all the applications have stopped working, I even uninstalled ccleaner, but when i log in with any user the “ccleaner reactivator” process appears in the task manager.
I see that I have the files mentioned in this post in c\program files\ccleaner… I understand that it is what is preventing me from running the programs, since I can only run them as administrator (google chrome doesn’t even do that) how can I disable it completely?
I have to say, Friday I uninstalled ccleaner and today it has updated some applications again, including the VPN app, so the program is still in the computer… i dont understand this. I can only run the aplications running as administrator, if i try to run normally the aplications doesn’t even start.
Doesn’t make sense but was true, i was desperate and thinking about formatting the computer but i installed again ccleaner, went to “performance optimizer” and disable all apps, and then everything was correct. That option seems to be activated until you dont deactivate, even if you uninstall the program.
After that i uninstalled ccleaner and recommend my client dont use the app. Its a pity because is the first person i met who bought ccleaner pro and i like ccleaner, but for a user without experience it has more CONS than PROS.
You could say that about more or less any tool that you use without knowing how to use it properly.
Especially a tool with powerful advanced features like the ones that CCleaner has.
Yes the marketing men will tell you about the benefits of those tools, but not about the potential dangers of using them.
If you use any powerful tool when you don’t know how to use it properly then you can make mistakes, sometimes with serious consequences.
It’s not that different to someone using say a chainsaw, or a lathe, or a mechanical digger, or …, when they don’t really know what they are doing.
They may be OK with some simpler jobs, but can overreach their experience level when using the tool and then things can (and ususally will) go seriously wrong.
You could hamper the tool so that the non-experienced couldn’t make such serious errors, but then it wouldn’t be as useful a tool anymore.
