Windows Explorer windows

A simple question, and I'm hoping the solution will be just as simple.

Is it possible to have Windows Explorer open "normal" (as opposed to maximised) windows in the same position every time.

I'm completely cheesed off with having to manoeuvre a window into the centre of the screen. To me, an off centre window is like having a picture hanging crooked on a wall.

If there's a setting to do this, I can't find it.

Thanks.

are the windows appearing at the edge with part of them cut off?

On Vista atm but may be the same.

Open My Computer - Tools - Folder Options - View Tab - "Rememember each folder's view settings" ticked?

Yup, same as XP.

Thanks guys, I looked at that and tried it checked and unchecked, but it didn't do the trick, and I thought view settings must simply mean tiles, thumbnails or list etc. etc., but I think it's working now.

I've had to individually set the position of every folder that opens onto an empty screen, ie My Computer, My Documents, My Music, My Pictures, Control Panel, etc., and the initiall opening window of the Partition. Once I've set them all into the centre, they're continuing to open in that position.

Obvious really, but I wish I had a fiver for every time I've missed the obvious.

EDIT: Thanks Talldog, for your input.
