Hi - some help would be appreciated on this one
I've used CC a lot on XP, and also on Vista to a lesser extent - never had a problem before, despite checking all the options (apart from 'wipe free space')
However, using it on a Tablet PC running Win 7 (build 7100) has thrown up a definite problem relating to the 'ink to text' conversion.
As you will know, Tablets offer the chance to use the 'pen' to write freehand in a special 'text box', which then enters typed text into a document or dialogue box.
After running CC (latest version, all option enabled except 'wipe space') this facility no longer works - the text can be written, but it will not transfer into the document.
I've run a Batch command that was suggested elsewhere to resolve the problem, and also tried re registering the OLE32.dll (another suggestion) but nothing works.
I've also tried re-entering the saved registry backup from the CC reg cleaner function - it successfully merges, but still doesn't solve the ink-to-text problem.
What function of CC might be causing this problem? - apart from the failure of the ink-to-text everything seems fine - but as ink-to-text is such a fundamental part of a tablet PC it's going to be impossible to use CC again (after a format & reinstall) unless I can isolate (and disable) the particular CC action that's causing the problem.
Shame - because, until now, CC has been just about my favourite bit of 'free' software.
Advice gratefully received.
CCleaner is not officially released for Win7.. (or is it?)
Did you mess around with the Registry Cleaner?

ishan read the posters comments, he stated he re-merged the registry back up.

Hi - yes, as usual I gave CC full 'registry messing' privileges
- but re-merged afterward (with no effect)
I knew I was taking a bit of a gamble - but as I've used CC without any sort of problem on XP for years, I thought it would be safe enough.
This, of course, isn't an issue for anyone who is not using a tablet pc - it's only the 'ink to text' function that gets wiped out (as far as I know) so, for most users the problem wouldn't even be noticed.
Being something of a masochist, I did a format/reinstall of Win 7 with available updates, added ONLY CC as additional software - and tried again ![]()
Bam! - as soon as I ran CC + the reg cleaning function ink-to-text vanished again...
I *should* have run CC first, then the reg cleaning option to see which module was doing the dirty deed - but I didn't (and my masochism doesn't quite extend to another go after another format & Win 7 install)
So, there's the problem - anyone got any ideas? (apart from not installing/running CC on a tablet)
Incidentally, not even Win system restore could do anything - in fact it didn't even recognise that CC had even been installed.
