As per title, attached HDD via USB. Win 11 and every time I try to scan the drive Recuva just dies.
Tried Admin
Tried no Deep
Tried scanning for specific file type
Same result each and every time. Re-installed it twice, rebooted twice.

usb should mount as a drive letter does it or does it show as a media (ipod for instance) or picture (i.e. a camera) device?
If drive letter then yes recuva should work
Which brings the next question, how big a drive? TBH Recuva has not been updated in years and the multi-TB drives we have now, can cause it to struggle or time out.
It is a 4TB HDD. Windows recognizes it and labels it as G: drive.
I don’t think it times out, as the Recuva crash is near instant. Flashes the scanning progress bar and then gone.
Not sure if this is pertinent or not, but even if I choose to not start the wizard check box, every time I re-start recuva it still uses the wizard
