I used to occasionally use “Wipe Free Space” in the “advanced” options. But I can’t find it in Ccleaner7. How can I do this in Ccleaner7?
Forget about CCleaner. Open CMD as administrator and use cipher /w:X where X replace with drive letter.
Never use this command or any other software for Wipe Free Space on SSD.
I agree about SSD’s, but some of us have NVME, SSD, and regular hard disks for storage.
Thanks very much for your reply. In my case it’s an SSD. I’m not an expert and I’d prefer to let Ccleaner handle things if that’s still possible.
You do not need to wipe free space on an SSD because the TRIM command already marks deleted files as free, making the data inaccessible without significantly shortening the drive’s lifespan.
The SSD controller’s Garbage Collection and Wear Leveling complete the job.
Wiping free space simply uses unnecessary write cycles on an SSD.
Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your time and expertise.
I know nothing about the TRIM command but will follow up today.

In there is a link to a Crucial article (an understandable, not too technical one) about how Garbage Collection and Wear Leveling work with the TRIM command:
