i installed defraggler but uninstalled it cause it takes forever to defrag. i want to go back to windows xp disk defrag. however after uninstalling defraggler, i caint find the original windows xp disk defrag.
going to start/ search defrag only brings up the help topics. i can bring it up using my computer/local disk (c:)/properties/ tools..
how can i find it and make a shortcut icon of windows xp disk defrag on my desktop so i can boot it easy?
Click on start, then navigate to - all programs - accessories - system tools - disk defragmenter. Right click on disk defragmenter, select create shortcut.
Now you can drag the new shortcut to the desktop. ![:)]()
Just my curiosity, how did you start defragmenter before?
If that shortcut that login123 mentions in the above post is also gone, here's how to re-create it from scratch:
1. Click Start->Run and paste in:
%allusersprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools
Then click OK, so that it opens the folder where the shortcut is supposed to reside in by default.
2. Create a New Shortcut with the Target field ("location of the file"):
%SystemRoot%\System32\dfrg.msc
3. Name the shortcut:
Disk Defragmenter
Nice, Andavari.
As Tasgandy says, you're never too old to learn.
I didn't know how to do that, now i do.
Saved it to a txt file. (No chance I'll remember it tomorrow
)
Thanks.
