What happened to the CCleaner registry icon in the side panel?

Just updated to V 6.24.11060 and was looking for the registry cleaner icon in the side panel-it wasn't there. I eventually found it in the "tools" screen. Would be nice if the registry icon can be restored the the side panel as before. Thanks

It was moved due to the fact so many users were just running it blindly without knowing what it did and then having problems with their machines.

Seriously, they remove the registry cleaner icon which is one of the most used icons from the panel but leave driver updater and software updater which is two of the least used and both will create far more problems than the registry cleaner! Might be time to start looking for a different cleaning program!

The whole point of the change is that Registry Cleaning shouldn't be used regularly anymore.

Windows has changed since when CCleaner was first developed - and with Windows 8 onwards using a registry cleaner regularly can break your computer.

It still has a use for fixing (not cleaning) certain things which is why it has not been dropped altogether.

You only have to read these forums to see people who have broken their computers by using registry cleaning indiscriminately, unthinkingly, or just not knowing that they shouldn't be using it as a cleaning tool anymore.

Using any registry cleaner will NOT speed up your machine in any way, it will NOT save any more than a few Kilobytes of space which you won't even notice. It MIGHT just stop your machine from working properly or working at all.

Whether to use reg cleaning regularly is your own choice of course, but it's also at your own risk.

And yes, that advice is at odds with some of the CCleaner marketing blurb. I'm not an employee and I'm not trying to sell you anything.

Time to revert to an older version and block updates, this is a dumb change.

So we get to reap the benefits from the actions of those people with less than 2 working braincells? Great!

Among other dumb changes I agree. I'm right there with you. Uninstalling this abomination...

And as a note of irony, I'm using CCleaner to uninstall itself.

And done!

Why not leave the choice to the user to have it Registry Cleaner in one place or another?

Because most users wouldn't choose and would run registry section and clean all (which is useless/dangerous)

If it's in Tools by default but user has the option to move it back to how it was previously it would be the best solution,-

less customization options isn't always the best solution especially if a lot of current customers are used to the previous interface ...

Really bad, I have been a fan of this tool for 17 years, but in recent years they have really gone completely overboard and lost their way. I always used regclean. I have a paid version until the end of this year and it will definitely not be renewed! They should be ashamed of themselves, how can you completely lose track. Just keep it small, clear and simple, that has always been the strength of CCleaner.. I hope you will find the right track again someday.
