What are these (temporary) CC files for?

I still have CC version 6.39.11 on my laptop. I still have to make a decision whether I want to upgrade or not.

Version 6.39.11 seem to generate a number of files in a folder under “c:\program files\common files\piriform\…..” (see red rectangle) that take up over 300 MB of diskspace (blue rectangle). Is this a bug in the program code ? Or is there a purpose for these files ? The name of one of the folders (“….\temp\….”) suggests that these files are only temporarily stored for some reason. Can anyone provide more explanation ? Are they save to be removed by CC ?

See also picture below.

Those are safe to delete unless you have a current issue. they’re under the subfolder temp(orary thus ok to delete) and icarus which is the ccleaner troubleshooter. Why it’s creating so many or what exactly they are, I don’t know, but I can, with high confidence, tell you they can be cleaned.

OK, deleting those files didn’t cause any problems.

Perhaps there is a relationship with the fact that I always struggle to keep my HD from (fully) filling up ?

Another “file problem” but Is this related to CC as well ?? See the picture below. In the folder “c:\users\BRS Limited\…. (red rectangle) some program creates all these “_MEI….” subfolders (inside the blue rectangle). Does CC create these folders as well ?

Yes, I know these folders can be removed using CC but I don’t do that for a very good reason I won’t mention here. I clean that folder manually every now and then. But I still want to know if CC is responsible for creating these folders. It would make sense because I use CC every day multiple times.

“MEIxxxx” folders are related to PYTHON and are often created by a Cloud service, or a backup service.
eg Google Cloud is known to create some of them them when it is syncing.

Whatever is creating them should be removing them next time that it is run, but sometimes programme/app developers get sloppy with the housekeeping, and so you then have to remove them yourself.

Proliferating “MEIxxxx” folders has been an issue for years, the Microsoft Q&A link below dates from 2012.
