Used Cc cleaner on windows, now it won’t start

Hello,

I am very new to pcs and thought I would used a cc cleaner to help create more storage space. I ran the Cccleaner on all the categories for Windows 10. I turned my computer off and on again now it says “automatic repair couldn’t repair your pc” every time I try to repair it, it says no changes made ! Help !!

Why? Many of the items present a warning when they are invoked saying exactly what they do and that they should be used cautiously.

and if all Catagories includes software update, driver update, performance optimizer. and registry items in custom clean. THen it’s hard to tell what went wrong.

Truthfully, it’s my partners first pc. I had a ton of sims cc downloaded and it was taking up a lot of space! Neither of us have ever used something like a cccleaner and I think we got a little trigger happy, we clicked past the warnings, which is our fault! Everything was fine until we tried restarting the pc. Is the pc completely unusable now? Or would we be able to take it to a professional to be reset?

When booting can you get into ‘Safe Mode’ rather than Automatic Repair?

If you can then you can try fixing things from there.
(Probably using DISM and SFC, we can give further instructions if you can get to safe mode)

If not then you may be best doing a reinstall of Windows.
If you have never done it before it isn’t difficult, you only need a USB stick with at least 8 GB capacity and an internet connection (on a different PC), There are plenty of ‘How to’ videos on Youtube.

You can easilly make a USB installer for either Windows 10 or Windows 11.
(I have made one of each).

Or of course you could pay your local computer shop to do it for you, but It’s always good to learn how to do it yourself for free, just in case you ever need to.

Thank you for the help!

I followed the video, it allowed me to do everything but when I hit F4 /F5 to enter safe mode, the pc restarts and brings me to the automatic repair screen again. I’m going to try and look for videos to reinstall Windows 10!

Mmm, I wonder if that is because of the recent change to ‘Quick Machine Recovery’ made in Windows 11 25H2?
(I don’t know if the “Continue to Windows 11” option would have been there for you either? If it was and you could get into Windows anyway then possibly DISM/SFC could still have been used).

You should be fine reinstallng Windows using the Media Creation Tool to make a USB installer.

As I say it isn’t difficult to do, apart from making the USB installer and booting from it it’s not much different from the setup that you do when you buy a new machine.
Watch a few videos and you should be good to go.

(PS. You dont need a new Windows licence for a reinstall, it will automatically pick up the existing Windows licence associated with the machine).
