I'm running Windows 7 home premium and CCleaner v4.01.4093. Twice CCleaner asked to update, and each time it fails sying it can't write to the drive. I have to uninstall, and reinstall and register. I run Avast! and I am wondering if this needs to be disabled, or if there is a known conflict. Thanks for any help.
You say you have to re-register. If you mean by this that your purchased ccleaner then this entitles you to personal support from Piriform.

I have Avast! on win xp and win 7 and CCleaner will update fine, no need to tinker w/ Avast!
Firewall (Outpost by Agnitum) did stop it until it was told to allow it.
One thing that helped someone else with the update system was to visit Microsoft Update and to download+install all available Root Certificates.
