Uninstalling Unlisted Programs

Running: Win 98SE

I have several old programs listed in "C:\Program Files" that I want to uninstall; but they aren't listed in CCleaner>Tools>Uninstall or in "Add/Remove Programs." If it's possible to use CCleaner to uninstall them, how do I do so?

Thank you

There's only a few ways to uninstall such applications that aren't linked in CCleaner's uninstall list or Add/Remove Programs:

  • An uninstall shortcut in the Start Menu program group, many place a shortcut for the uninstall in there.
  • Open the folder the program is installed in and look for an uninstall.exe file, e.g.; uninstall.exe, uninst.exe, unins000.exe, unins*.exe, etc.
  • Reinstall applications over the broken installation if they can't be uninstalled. This will get the uninstaller link to show up in Add/Remove Programs, etc.

P.S. Welcome to the Piriform Forums! :)
