I have done what I should have to make things work

Help us please...

OK unless anyone is willing to give info such a recuva version used, operating system, which service pack, it's difficult to give advice

I use Windows Vista Home Premium SP 1 (32-Bit)

my Recuva version ist v1.27.419

hope that help you to fixed the problem on the version.

Can you post /debug logs and we will look into this.

:)

MrRon

I've tried to used the older version (v26. 416 if I'm not mistaken) than the version I recently used. It won't work neither.

I guess the problem is in my laptop oder the program inside it....

The search windows came and dissapeared instantly, and came nothing else...

here the display of my recuva.. (after the search windows went away)

I am having the same problem with an USB Flash Drive which suddenly stopped working.

The drive is still recognized, but as if it had never been formatted...

I was able to "see" some of my files with the trial version of GetDataBack FAT, so my files are still there

But this software is unfortunately quite expansive :/

Recuva tells me "Unable to read boot sector"

I have run the app with /debug and attached the log and dmp file (I had to zip the dmp first).

Could you please look into that? I really want to get back these datas, but not for 80$ :(

Its now july how long will it take for you to reply???

my problem is the same as above recuva will not scan, I use Windows Vista Home Premium SP 1 (32-Bit)

my Recuva version is V1.28.424 just tells me can not scan c d f drive old version used to no problem. cheers WK

Your log and dump show that your boot sector is not readable.

Recuva uses the boot sector to determine file system type and parameters and currently it will not work without a boot sector.

Sorry it didn't work out

MrRon

how do you then make the boot sector readable?

how do you then make the boot sector readable?

I'm assuming that if Recuva needs the boot sector to be intact then it might not work on a drive that can't boot?

Of course if you have a install or upgrade disk for the Windows OS you have, you can access the recovery console and try to fix the boot sector there.

If it can't be fixed I don't think the mods would care if I mentioned that there is at least one another recovery program... hardly free $99, that contains its own DOS-based OS so it can navigate drives that won't boot. It's called Data Rescue by Recover Soft. But its purpose may be a bit different than Recuva. It's good for files that are NOT deleted but just stuck on an unbootable drive.
