I successfully found the files (mostly .rmvb and .avi) that I had deleted by chance. And following the instructions I placed them on a different hard drive. But when it finished restoring, I checked the hard drive and I could not find the files. I am pretty sure they have been successfully restored because my hard drive has been obviously occupied with the capacity of the deleted files. Now where did Recuva put them, please? I appreciate your help!
Hi Liam, and welcome to Piriform.
When you recover files, you get the dialogue window where you can choose the location to save them. If no choice is made, then the default location appears to be "My Computer". So there's no way we could say where they've gone if not to that default location.
Have you tried a simple search of that drive for maybe .avi, which you mention.
I thought that recovering another file (any file) may help, but Recover doesn't appear to remember the last save location.

Thank you, Dennis!
Yes I have tried to search for .avi files but none of the recovered ones appears. But I have found them last night! Here's how: Go to the Files Configuration box, click "show the hidden system files" and then go to the Hard Drive, there's a file called "$Recycle bin", double-clicking it, you see a recycle bin, click Properties, wow! all the files are stored there but I could not read them. I decided to deleted them to save the space they took. It worked! My poor hard drive returned to the size it should have.
So people who encounter a similar issue may refer to the tips here. Thanks again!
Thanks for posting that Liam, and I'm happy you got your files back.
