I'm using the free version of Recuva and it's not recognizing my smartphone. I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace J1 running Android Lollipop 5.1. I have enabled USB debugging as suggested but the only drive visible is C: on my computer. Could it be that my phone is considered as a virtual disc by the software and I therefore need to upgrade to the Professional version. Any help would be much appreciated.
Upgrade to professional will not fix this. Android 3.X and newer only mounts as Photo Transfer (PTP) or Media Transfer (MTP) device. Recuva, and most other likewise software, can only access devices that mount as Drives (e.g. Memory Sticks, Hard Disc Drives , Solid State Drives and the like).

I have the same question. Do I need to buy Pro version to recover deleted photos on Android? But the program is free from the site.
