Hi,new member here....My situation is, I've just updated to 2.16.830 and when I run 'analyze' I get the message that I must close FireFox even though it is closed.The same thing happens even if I haven't opened FireFox yet...I've uninstalled/installed CCleaner and no change.FireFox is updated...This is the first problem I've had with CCleaner since I stared using it about a year ago.Help would most appreciated as FF is my main browser.Thank you.
1. Open the Windows Task Manager by clicking CTRL+ALT+DEL
2. If you see firefox.exe running that's why it won't work, because Firefox is running.
If Firefox is running you can do any of these that you wish:
* End Task firefox.exe.
* Log off, then log back on.
* Restart Windows.
I looked in the Task Manager and FF wasn't running.I even opened FF and ended it in the Task Manager to see if that would change it, but no.This situation was noticed yesturday, so I've already already rebooted.CCleaner refuses to clear my internet cashe because it thinks FireFox is open.....Is there somewhere I can get another 2.15 version of CC again?
Hi Mal, and welcome to the forum.
That's a strange one. I've got the latest Firefox and CCleaner, and have no problems. You can get the previous CCleaner from FileHippo, but it would be nice to solve this one.
Would you post back and confirm that the problem doesn't occur with the previous CCleaner version, but before you do that, maybe try reinstalling the latest version of CCleaner again from the same link, and see what happens.
Dennis...Thanks,but I already reinstalled 2.15 from Filehippo and everything's working as good as ever.(I really do value this program.)...I think I'll wait til 2.17 before updating next...Thanks again for your help,guys.
Hi! Just a quick note. If you use Firefox, you will get that warning message if the download manager is open or active as well. I currently run the latest versions of both Firefox and CCleaner on Vista Ultimate, and I have had no problems. When I get that message, I know to go and close either the Firefox browser or the download manager. Also, if your Java app is still running for some reason, this may cause this message as well.

Hi!
Also new here, due to same problem as Mal re: CC 2.16.830/Firefox. Have tried checking Task Manager as suggested. No improvement. Just thought I'd let the techs know there IS a problem. I'm running XP. Any new updates/ suggestions? Otherwise I'm going to have to go back to an earlier version.
Thanks for any help!
I'm also running Windows XP, service pack 3...Still back with CCleaner 2.15 and everything is working just perfect.Our computer is about five years old and doesn't have much RAM(512),so I've come to depend on CC to help in keeping it agile.RAM Idle helps as well.

I'm running new XP, 2 gig ram, twin 80 gig hard drives etc. Plenty of horsepower! Went back to 2.15 and everything is working fine, therefore I suspect some form of gremlin in the 2.16. Not knowledgeable enough to speak with any degree of authority, but the A/B comparison is telling.
Thanks for posting your observations.
I don't have an answer for you, but the developers do read these posts and will be looking at the problems you mention. I'm pleased the previous version is working fine for you, and that fact in itself will help in finding a solution.
I just installed CC 2.17 and it's the same situation as with CC 2.16....I uninstalled my 2.15 so as to have a fresh install, and no help...Put the 2.15 back and all is well...Have I reached the end of my CCleaner updating?
